Need to recover well from oringen then get back training - feeling a lot stronger at the moment so I'm getting back to fitness slowly but surely :) just need to start thinking about adding the top end speeed ;)

Grr. Finished 21st overall thanks to an 8min mistake to #3...
Fun though :) :)

Basically this swede caught me at #2. I thought I'd follow him out the control, see what route e wanted to take and then start to take things again from there. Unfortunately his bearing out the control I was following was about 25° out to the right and we bailed miles off course. When I felt ready to map read I realised we were completely wrong on the bearing, so wrong I didn't have a clue where we were and not able to make it fit with anything. I felt I was left with one option - hope the swede knew where he was and had a good plan to fix it. He didn't.

After that it got better and I was alright (actually quite good and quick) and I ended catching this huge pack of 8 or so runners. From here to the end it was a brutal fell race in the train and I managed to crush maybe 6 of the guys as we flew up the final, steep hill to the finish. Unfortunately two of the guys managed to burn me off too :( just don't quite have my final gear at the moment!!

Finished 21st when it could have been a lot worse... Being 11th midweek I was pretty happy and from there I think I started to try to much, try to force the results. Need to work on not doing that in the future.

LOVED ORINGEN!!!!!!! Deffo be here next year ;)

Probably felt physically the best I've felt in so so long today...

...that said, I had an absolute nightmare.
Managed to double my overall time behind.

Day 4 - 44th (+11:19) - overall 14th (+21:50)

Problem with my mentality before hand which was... "I want to win today" or something along those lines... Set me up very badly.

Achilles is tender now. Did something weird to it at #6-7.

My race went in 3 stages.
1st awful panicked stage at the start.
2nd beasting the middle section when my Achilles wasn't hurting me.
3rd awful panicked stage when I could sense time running out and the finish close by.

Lost a minute to #1.

Didn't take time to plan a route.

Lost 4:20 to #3.

Bearing slightly off always from the start. Didn't have a good enough plan for this leg.

Lost 50s to #6.

Was going well then I got nervous as to if I'd gone to far. Grr.

Lost 1:30 to #7.

Achilles was really really sore after I twisted something badly on a rock. V v v slow limp.

5th on the long leg to #8.
2nd on the leg to #9.

Lost 30s to #10.

Too low!!!!!!!! I knew I was to low as well....

Lost 2:30 to #11

Panicked panic panic so close finish ahh no plan.

Lost 30s to #12

Same as before but not as catastrophic.

Oringen day 3 - middle distance - 10th (+2:13) - overall 11th (+10:31)

I knew Isac V K (three time jwoc medalist) was starting two mins behind me which didn't give me very good race prep. Managed to throw up twice on my warm up which also didn't help my mentality.

Slow to the first control, okay to the second, mistake to the third, looking behind me at every small mistake. He caught me at 3.

Didn't want to follow him so tried to push and run with him but made a couple of small mistakes which didn't help. Managed to stay with him almost all the way to the end and got a good result I can be happy with :)

Day 2 - +5:40 23rd though 8 places in the 40s ahead of me (+8:32 14th overall) no longer top Norwegian :(:(

Started 5th on the course.. Good to get my early start out the way! Big mistake to #1 - no plan other than "straight is great" meant that when I lost the line I was in big trouble. Vegetation was so wrongly mapped and it was on a pretty technical slope... Got it eventually.

After that cautious for a few controls then onto the fast stuff at the top. Quad absolutely dead after the decent to the 7th control so crawled from there to the end. Generally good technically just not fit enough to really challenge the top guys!

Solid enough start - 16th - +4:55.
(Top Brit/Norwegian woop!!)

One big mistake (1:30?), one smaller mistake (1?) and a good few smaller ones.
