Hill Running race 33:44 [5] 8.8 km (3:50 / km) +3m 3:50 / km
shoes: xtalon-212(2)

Baldy Man race (named after one of the sand dunes apparently...).

A big turnout, with nearly 300 running. Started off well, but lost a good few positions due to taking a bad line onto a sort of sandbar on the first section of the beach and ending up having to cross through 3 feet of water to get back to solid ground... Ended up running with 2 others, and we gradually picked people off as we headed towards the dunes. The sand starts to get dry and soft here making running very tough. Pulled away from the other two here, and could see I was getting closer to two in front. Eventually the route gets back on to a more solid grassy/sandy mix, but it's hard to pick up speed with legs drained after the soft sand. The final section on the promenade was great with loads of supporters.

I came 10th overall. I ran a minute slower a few years ago, and came 10th then too... Serious standard at the top of the race, first 3 men are sub 15min for 5k, and first woman ran in Euro XC!

Road Running hills 41:12 [5] 9.16 km (4:30 / km) +126m 4:13 / km
shoes: asics lyte33-2

Blaa-fueled 7 hill repeats on road with running back down as recovery. Hill wasn't too steep, and just under 400m long.

I should have figured out the distance beforehand, i would probably have done more then. It felt long enough when running though..

Also incudes warmup and cooldown

Long run to Parteen, across to UL, up to Superquinn and then back to Limerick. Got soaked from the rain, and splashed by lots of cars on the Dublin road.
