Stingers training with the old crew Andy, Prong and Glenn. Warm up and cool down to and from Prong's new flat in Kings Cross. Felt pretty crap but so did everyone else. Good to see the boys training again.

morning run from Essendon down to Maribyrinong river, along the foreshore for a while and back. Calves a little tight from weekend races. R knee started to hurt after 40mins.

Victorian State League
Really grumpy and unmotivated on the drive there. Not sure why- but probably has something to do with not having any orienteering related goals anymore. NOL races motivate me, but not much else.
Anyhow waited around for a while for a group start with some of the others, but couldn't wait any longer so ran on my own.
Pretty good run, just a few small direction problems probably due to laziness of not wanting to look at the map. Fantasic fast area- felt pretty good but it's hard not to in this terrain.
30secs behind Bruce, 15 behind Reubs. Was 40secs behind at #1 mainly due to stuffing around after i'd punched the start, and before I started running so that makes me fell a bit better.

warm up for race, and cool down at Hepburn springs while Kathryn ran a sprint course (secret training).

evening ride from Macedon up Mt Macedon for 30mins at tempo, then turned around and froze my tits off on the way back. Knee started to hurt by the end. damn, thought it had gone away

Ran with Kathryn, on the M21A course. She ran quite well, and lost me at one point- I had misdrawn my control circle.

evening ride in Macedon with Kathryn. Wet and cold. Knee was ok though.

with Troysie from his place in Docklands. Out to Port Melbourne and back. Cool and overcast morning but nice and still. Knee was sore for the 2nd half.

Sunday Apr 20

MTB race (Vic Middle Distance MTBO) 1:01:00 [5] 20 km (3:03 / km)

5th. Missed the 1st by 30secs as I thought I would just see the control in a maze of tracks but just rode past it. Also missed 30secs in the circle at 4. Spend ages looking at the best route to 7 and picked what a thought to be a clever route out to the right. Got almost to the control and then realised I had missed 6. Shit! Lost 5-6mins going back for it. Dari missed it altogether. It was quite a straight line between 5-6-7 and the course overprinting was particularly bad.
Anyhow I got mad and pushed pretty hard on the 2nd half and didn't lose much time. 10mins behind AJ, but without big mistake probably in 3rd.
R knee was really sore after 10mins, but subsided a bit by the end.
MTB race (VIC Sprint MTBO) 23:03 [5]

Navigated much better than this morning. Quite smooth and pushed hard when I could. Only one leg with hesitation, losing about 15secs, but otherwise good ride. 3rd, 80secs behind AJ, and 30secs behind Alex was a good result. Really fun area. I'd do more MTBO if it was all like this.

Long mtb warm up for Keen and to explore some of the trails.
Drove up to Erica for a mtb to wear in my new Mtb shoes. But found out I left them at home. After a few tears, I had to take a few harden up pills and did the whole ride in my running shoes. Wasn't as bad as I expected.
Picked out a few rail trails which i hoped would be single track. Down to Thompson river crossing, on a great trail, then up Depot track, along Happy creek track which comes out on Thompsons dam rd. Crossed road, and found come cool trails, and also found some very overgrown ones. Then west looking for a walking track, but it was very overgrown so rode on a great fire trail down to Tyers Junction. This is an awesome valley with heaps of big trees and a nice stream. Climbed out of the valley on some old rail trails and back to the car.
A couple of mins after I arrived, got changed and put the bike in the car a police car turned up. Someone had reported it, looked suspicious parked in the forest of something. They took ages checking my details. I wondered if they had access to Switzerlands police database.....
