Traralgon Harriers 25km Champs on the Boolarra to Mirboo North railtrail.
I woke up not wanting to race as I had a cold coming on and felt so smashed after yesterdays paddle. I knew I'd regret it come the afternoon and guilt got the better of me. It was about the best turnout of any weekend Harriers race I've done. It was a race in two halves- the first uphill to Mirboo North then downhill back. Kathryn pushed pretty hard at the start which surprised me a bit when I was on the back foot. And I was battling the demons a bit as to whether I would finish or not. About 4km I pushed hard up a steeper section to bridge the small gap to Crossy and Biasi but Kathryn dropped off. About 8km I decided to ease off and let Kathryn catch up and ran with her for the rest. We caught Biasi and Darrel at the turn around, had a gel then Darrel took off. We were back under 4mins/km for a while as the legs enjoyed the downhill but we couldn't keep with Darrel. Just tried to keep relaxed and not too stressed on the 12km downhill. Pretty happy with the time in the end. The gravel is really nice to run on, but not particularly fast. I felt my lungs were the limiting factor in the first half but the legs on the second. Hopefully a good snooze this arvo will keep the cold away.
