Note
(sick) (rest day)

Travelling back to Edinburgh (via Bratislava).
Feeling pretty rubbish all day but did manage to slowly cycle to Cameron Toll and back.

Skiing (Downhill) 17:07 [0] 6.36 km (2:41 / km)
(sick)

Final ski run down the hill to Bad Mittendorf with Tim, Marlene and Peter. Carrying a bag and using the short skis which made this quite tricky at times but fun to ski one last time.

Day 5 Skiing
Sun was out for my birthday and snow conditions were awesome. Skied all morning with Tim, Peter and Jonny. Finally got to go off-piste with them, dodging through all the forest trees and doing loads of jumps off all the tree stumps. Went straight to the top at the start of the day to do the black run I'd been avoiding all week. It was so steep that it looked like a cliff until you were literally going over the edge.

Day 4 Skiing
Really cold today (-8) and white-out conditions on most of the mountain. So stuck to the gondola runs so we could warm up slightly in between. Stopped for a hot chocolate in the restaurant at the top of the mountain then did 1 long run down to the valley and went home early as we were both too cold.

Skiing (Touring) 2:50:31 [0] 9.99 km (17:04 / km) +725m 12:31 / km
(sick)

My first time ever ski touring and going properly backcountry skiing. We walked out across 2 frozen lakes then up to the top of a mountain before skiing back down through super fluffy powder snow which was incredibly fun!! Getting really tired on the final climb back up to the hut....was a compromise between trying to get back quickly so I could lie down and hurting too much to move as the boots had rubbed on both shins.

Skiing (Downhill) 3:54:00 [0] 40.21 km (5:49 / km) +4312m 3:47 / km

Day 3 Skiing
Spent the morning playing round some of the easier slopes with Jonny. Stopped at a restaurant to get a schnitzel for lunch then met up with Tim. Then Jonny thought he'd be brave and try out the runs by the gondola so skied down from mittelstation then went right to the top for amazing 360 degree views of snowy mountains.
4 PM

Skiing (XC-Classic) 41:42 [0] 4.61 km (9:03 / km) +49m 8:36 / km

Trying classic XC skiing this time...I thought this would be harder than skate as I was scared of being trapped in the grooves. But was actually a lot easier, kinda like the lazy sliding you do behind a supermarket trolley down the aisles!! Managed to do the whole blue loop through the trees in the dark which was fun. Fell over twice - once when I got caught with one ski in the groove and one out. The other time when we crossed a path and the grooves vanished then missed them when they started again and faceplanted.

Day 2 skiing
With Jonny for most of the day, then a couple of runs from the top on my own to finish with. We stuck to the easiest slopes so Jonny could practice and get some confidence up. We'd also swapped skis so he had really short ones and I took Tim's really long skis so I was also glad for the easier slopes as they were quite hard to control.
