SHI Relay - Whiteford Burrows
1st (Me, Emma, Grace)

Fiona and I had the short 1st control so got away from the pack already. Then we split to 3 and my route was a lot faster so was already in a clear lead after only a few minutes of running. Took nice safe routes and pushed hard and managed to extend this lead to about 2.5mins by the end.
Emma and Grace had solid runs to hold off a good English team and take the win. My first SHI Relay win after 2 years of coming very close.

Loved this area. Was definitely my kind of terrain with nice runnability and obvious ridges/flat patches to navigate off.

Loved being back in sand dunes again (although quite a bit different to the flatter forested ones I'm used to in NZ). Obviously still got the navigation skills hidden away somewhere in my mind as I felt quite comfortable and in control most of the time.

Caught up to Fay quite early on and had fun taking completely different routes on the long legs but popping out at the control at the same time. Got a bit of a gap after 17 but then lost 1min at 19 when I was stood in the re-entrant and couldn't see the control.

KO Sprintervals around Fountainbridge/The Exchange. Big group out this week with Grace to push me.

1 - Slow start but got ahead to 4 when Grace started running down the wrong road. Then got passed on the runners choice section as I chose a slow one. But happy with nav for the course that I had.

2 - Kept going different routes to Grace at the beginning then got caught out by an alley being blocked by construction and didn't see another route through so went all the way around. Runners choice on the exchange section which I always struggle to understand so just picked one that seemed like all the controls were easy to get to and on the top level.

3 - Stood at the start for a very long time as I just couldn't figure out what was going on at all. Should've just chased after the others and figured it out as I went as it was ungaffled anyway. Thought I could zigzag through on 2 but didn't see a giant building in the way so went right, ended up being equal with left anyway. Good route to 3 and got in front of Grace and Pippa but then immediately lost it by thinking I could get onto the bridge in the exchange from beside it then having to go a very long way around when I realised I couldn't.

Massive water belly/stitch through 2nd and 3rd courses wasn't pleasant. But very enjoyable training nonetheless and fun running with a big group.
