Absolutely awesome adventure with like the biggest crew ever (Andy, Brooner, Bart, Dave, Mounty, Keelan, myself). Started at Mountain Lagoon, some firetrail, then scrambly run down to Colo river – fun but I was very careful with Tarawera not far away. Then swimrunning for about 9k – this was so good and pretty tough, wet shoes full of sand, running on soft sand banks, scrambling over rocks, running in water, actual swimming... I was dragging the chain in this section a bit with pretty tired legs and also because I forgot my running vest and Mounty borrowed me his 30l pack (that absolutely saved me, thanks mate!) which always got full of water haha.

Then steep scramble back up from the valley and onto a great technical overgrown ridge trail where we kinda lost Keelan and Brooner. After some waiting, me and Mounty had to backtrack to see if they are ok. Turned out they just took a wrong turn and ran slightly different route so all good. It has however caused a lot of waiting and walking around and also split the group into three which sucked. Everyone was out of water by then (we expected it to be a 4hrs run max) and 35+ heat really started to bite. I was quite ok though and despite BIG week finished relatively strong. Quick stop at Bilpin cidery was THE BEST.

Thanks guys, really enjoyed this one!

Nutrition: 2l water, 0.7l Tailwind (had some more but gave it Mounty at the end), 1 muesli bar, half pack of jelly snakes
