Berowra - Berowra Waters - Cowan and back with Bull.

First time on this trail and loved it, but it was one of those days when everything is wrong. Let the whinge begin:

1/ Taking antibiotics since Monday. Did a few session this week and felt good so thought I'm ok for a long run too. Wrong assessment. Not good for long run, not in hilly Berowra, not on a hot day and not with Bull who would be too fast for me even on a good day. Legs would have run but couldn't catch a breath from after approx 60 minutes.

2/ Left calf, still not recovered from my funky incident on Wednesday, was giving me a hard time on the way back.

3/ Massive blisters on both heel bones. Perhaps the Race Ultras not the best pick for my retarded feet...

4/ Smashed my little toe morning before the run - superb in technical bits

Will take a few days off now.

End of whinge.

Lunch run - loop on the Lane Cove trails. Around 4th km stumbled and kicked in full speed and force my left calf with my right foot (how stupid). Quite painful for the rest of the run. Hope nothing serious...

Easy run to Mrs. Macquarie then to Woolloomooloo, five reps on the stairs up to Potts Point and back home through Cross and Darlinghurst.

Legs a bit tired but decided to punish them for their underperformance yesterday with a few hills reps - did five continuous reps on that nasty steep hill from Cooper Park via Attunga St up towards Woollahra. Put some efforts in it but did not go too hard (1:35-1:50 each).

Red Bull Dune Dusters in the Stockton Dunes. Easily the toughest 10k I have ever run. All in soft sand, up and down in dunes all the time. Was quite suffering till the 6km mark or so, feeling every single muscle and ligament on my legs, and then I suddenly got into it. Surprising, especially because it got really hot at that time (wind stopped and clouds vanished). Overtook lots of runners in the last 4km, finishing 15th with heaps of power left in my legs (4th best split on the timed last dune) - so was a bit disappointed that my legs did not start to cooperate earlier.

Otherwise awesome fun, fuelled by Red Bull. Still not a fan of running in sand though!
