Massive upset in the Czech presidential elections. Beautiful jog along the never ending beach and peaceful ocean was the only thing I could do. I will miss runs like this one...

Saturday Jan 27 #

10 AM

Bushwalking 3:00:00 [1] 8.5 km (21:11 / km) +220m 18:45 / km

Hike from Hawks nest to Mt Yacaaba and back with a few ocean dips. Climbed up in thongs which probably wasn't the best shoe choice haha
6 PM

Run 47:15 [3] 8.08 km (5:51 / km) +220m 5:09 / km
shoes: Inov8 Rocklite 280 (yellow v3)

From Hawks Nest along the beach and then hike up to Mt Yacaaba and back with friends. Craaacking views. Then after about five beers decided I should do the loop again and run up. So I did. Still really hot, the scramble up hurt and then let it loose on the downhill (not very smart in hindsight - this is exactly how you get injured before a race). Later found out there were some segments, owned by Julian, Bart, Prong, Dave. Should have gone harder up! (at least I snatched the downhills haha)

Orienteering race 39:44 [4] 9.35 km (4:15 / km) +195m 3:51 / km

SSS Lilyfield

Quite a puzzle to figure this one out. Spent good 15minutes staring at the map, yet I reshuffled my route through Callan park after I started (and just hoped I didn't omit any control). Another thing was I forgot my watch so ran with a phone in my pocket, but didn't check time at all as it felt I was fine time-wise. Ended up getting the lot sub 40 which was probably the first time I managed that in SSS. Legs felt relatively ok but the undulating streets bit hurt and was running out of steam towards the end a big time - at least I managed some fast splits in the final flat bit.

First SSS where I haven't done any mistake and think my route choice was pretty close to an ideal so was very happy when I finished (almost 3 mins ahead of Andy).
7 PM

Run warm up/down 39:00 [2] 8.14 km (4:47 / km) +140m 4:25 / km
shoes: Asics GT-2000 4

From Victoria road to SSS and then home via Glebe foreshore

Run hills 40:54 [3] 6.24 km (6:33 / km) +449m 4:49 / km

2x10 Moo stairs. Took it a lot easier than the last time (8:39, 8:41). Still brutal.

Monday Jan 22 #

Run 33:09 [2] 7.0 km (4:44 / km) +61m 4:32 / km
shoes: Asics GT-2000 4

Easy grass laps in Prince Alfred park. Legs tired after 125k week but no niggles or anything.
