Summer Series anniversary cup in Blackman park

Great fun going head to head against a pretty stacked field. Unfortunately I approached it as normal summer series where you usually don't have to think too much and just run. Obviously not quite the case here so for most of the course I was in a mode mistake - catching up - mistake - catching up. When I finally broke away and was going from #12 in a comfortable lead, while I was reading the map and planning the last three controls, I managed to run off the trail and ended up going over the hill and bushbashing back down which cost me maybe 50sec? Toby punched #13 10sec ahead of me and I didn't find the legs, motivation (also didn't want to risk twisting my ankle 10 days before Tarawera) so finished 2nd, 5sec down on Toby.

Maybe 3 min worth of mistakes on a relatively simple 30 min course? Ridiculous.

It was good fun though and glad ankles etc survived. No I can start tapering. Bring it on Tarawera!

2x10 moo stairs. Wanted to go reasonably fast but in even splits. Did 8:24, 8:26 so ticked both boxes. Felt a lot easier than in previous weeks which is a good sign I guess. No more stairs before Tarawera

Massive upset in the Czech presidential elections. Beautiful jog along the never ending beach and peaceful ocean was the only thing I could do. I will miss runs like this one...

Hike from Hawks nest to Mt Yacaaba and back with a few ocean dips. Climbed up in thongs which probably wasn't the best shoe choice haha

From Hawks Nest along the beach and then hike up to Mt Yacaaba and back with friends. Craaacking views. Then after about five beers decided I should do the loop again and run up. So I did. Still really hot, the scramble up hurt and then let it loose on the downhill (not very smart in hindsight - this is exactly how you get injured before a race). Later found out there were some segments, owned by Julian, Bart, Prong, Dave. Should have gone harder up! (at least I snatched the downhills haha)
