Sunday Nov 12

Orienteering 1:22:56 [3]** 13.78 km (6:01 / km) +120m 5:46 / km
spiked:25/29c shoes: kaija rautavaara
Batona 500 long. The rain held off, and my knees survived. Navigation was a bit iffy and concentration a little low in places. The blueberry was somewhat tiresome after a while, but the meet was well-organised.
Running 25:00 [1]* 3.5 km (7:09 / km)
shoes: kaija rautavaara
Ran back from the finish to the parking along the northeast edge of the map; very slow. Nice trail, nice marshes, nice jet black water.

Batona 500; middle. Not a good run for such simple terrain; kept losing contact.

Day 1 Blue - Splits

Thursday Nov 9

Bike 2:35:00 [3]37.5 mi (4:07 / mi)
shoes: shimano m-180b
Same as Oct 10: route, except the unnecessary detour west from mile 30 to 33 was replaced by the obvious shortcut along Beckwith Rd (I was intending to take this last time but missed the turn). A beautiful afternoon, if a little blustery: 63F dropping to 60F, mostly sunny, 15-20mph W winds.

I would taper for the weekend, but I already taper significantly from waist to ankle, and I feel any more tapering would be unhelpful - I'd either have to eat an awful lot or undergo footbinding.

Wednesday Nov 8

Bike 1:10:00 [3]18.0 mi (3:53 / mi)
shoes: shimano m-180b
Canal to Pittsford. Started at 5pm; got 25 minutes with some daylight and the rest with the night brightened by city lights reflecting off low clouds. The unseasonably warm weather drew me out: 57F, damp. Shorts and fingerless gloves were fine.

Tuesday Nov 7

Running 40:50 [3]5.68 mi (7:11 / mi)
shoes: johann aloysius bach
Minimalist river loop: route. Drizzle, dark (8:20pm), 54F. Saw an animal I'm 90% sure was a skunk at mile 2; this may be the last time I do this route in the dark (though probably not since it's much better lit than most routes from my place).
