Sunday May 27

Event: ROC - Webster Park - W/Y/O, Sprint

Orienteering 37:30 [3] *** 5.5 km (6:49 / km)
spiked:15/19c shoes: kaija rautavaara
ROC Webster. Orange. Mostly 'follow the trails through the green', but some nicer parts of the map. Probably 2 minutes of errors (mostly route choice); not concentrating very hard. Warmish: 78F rising to 83F, but some breeze meant it felt fairly cool.
Orienteering 12:30 [4] ** 2.2 km (5:41 / km)
spiked:6/8c shoes: kaija rautavaara
Sprint. Again a dumb route choice error (leaving controls 6 and 7 into the green rather than taking the tracks round; on the other hand, you never know whether the green is green until you try it at first hand).
Orienteering 21:30 [3] ** 3.6 km (5:58 / km)
spiked:9/9c shoes: kaija rautavaara
Yellow. (aka White with route choice).
Orienteering 11:05 [3] * 2 km (5:32 / km)
spiked:8/8c shoes: kaija rautavaara
White.

Saturday May 26

Note
How do you get birds out of an attic? One openable window, but they seem too dumb to find it and/or too tired from being in there starving to climb to it.
C • a breadcrumb trail? 8
Running 2:13:49 [3] 16.73 mi (7:59 / mi)

Letchworth. Parked at Dygert and River, then trail 9 to E cabins, along the road to 6A, down to the footbridge over the Genesee, up and north along trail 1 as far as Tea Tree. Then back to the footbridge, trail 6 to the road, up along the road to the Greenway, and down the Greenway and then River Rd to the car. 70F dropping to 66F, dp in the high 40s, so much more comfortable. The (planned) highlight of the run was running the Gorge Trail while 16 hot-air balloons took off from the Archery Field, although only one (the local one) dropped into the gorge below me as in the photos here. I'm fairly jaded about these kinds of things, but it really was kind of cool.

Thursday May 24

Bike 1:15:00 [2]
shoes: shimano m-180b
Out to the bridge beyond Greece Canal Park. Front wheel needs adjusting: the rolling resistance is much higher than it should be (the problem, I think, is that the wheel is not sitting quite straight so that it's rubbing on the brake pad on the way around). Nasty evening: 82F at 8pm, dp 60F, hazy (visibility 5-7 miles). And to add to it, the bugs (the ones you eat, breathe, and have catch in your hair) are out.

Summer is so unnecessary.

Wednesday May 23

Running 59:00 [3] 7.38 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: johann aloysius bach
Highland/Pinnacle/Cobbs Hill loop. Hot (71F), with hotter in the forecast. I intensely dislike summer.

Strength & Conditioning 30:00 [1]

SLP: 225,250,250. SLS (cheating):50, 80, 80. CR 100, 100, 100. Forward bends: 25, 25. WC: 8, 8, 8. Cut short by the gym closing.

Monday May 21

Running 1:22:30 [3] 11.79 mi (7:00 / mi)

Oatka Creek Park on a glorious evening (61F dropping to 54F, dp 24F, clear and still). In 80 minutes at Oatka you can do pretty much all the trails, so I did (with the NW 'yellow' trail repeated three times since it's the nicest part of the area and contains the best hill). Plenty of deer in the SE corner at the end to be frightened off en masse.
