Bike 2:00:00 [3]30.8 mi (3:53 / mi)

Canal to one bridge beyond Spencerport (Trimmer Rd); this is 4.5 miles one-way from Greece Canal Park. Tried 250 rotations at '50rpm' (ie top gear; into the wind and on dirt, this wasn't too far off), 450 at 90rpm (ie easy, five gears down) for much of the way. Warm and mostly sunny (72F, dp 65F, 10am).

Bike was the hybrid, with new SPD pedals.

Time to start (a) logging and (b) long runs again. Drove to the B2 trailhead on the Finger Lakes Trail (they are numbered in increasing order from the Ontario County Park trailhead at Gannett Hill), ran the FLT to B3 (up and over Cleveland Hill, about a 400' climb), then, expecting the yellow trailhead signs rather than the orange blazes for some reason, wandered around on the roads for a while looking for the next trailhead. B4 is actually nearly 2 miles east (Gmap), so until you are looking for orange blazes, it isn't easy to find. (I must have been dehydrated; I remember thinking it was substandard trail marking relative to the AT; which it wasn't.) Tried Porter Rd to the north for a while first, then Seman Rd, but turned around at 0:56 on coming on a roadkill fawn being gnawed by a large bulldog; on the whole it was more interested in the (fresh) meat than in me, but it seemed a good point to reverse. Back to B3, up the FLT and then up along the blue trail within the scout reservation. Hiking listed as allowed, so it seems this is ok.

Map, it turns out, is here. Warm: high 60s under the trees, low 70s in the sun. I ended up heftily dehydrated, despite carrying water, being reluctant to drink it because of mold in the hose after the winter hiatus.

The reservation looks like it might not be too disastrous for orienteering on the west side of the hill if the relevant people were interested (they might be). They already allow the public to hike and ride mtbs, so it's definitely a possibility for ROC.

Ellison Park from S trailhead. Some wandering in the southern area, then out, over, and round the HTSBI. Back fairly directly. Nice run, if somewhat dampifying given the humidity after all this week's rain.
