Run 31:38 [2] 4.86 km (6:31 / km) +70m 6:04 / km

Feeling pretty pooped, and mysterious bruise appeared on R foot. Decided to swap around days, so just went for a very easy almost 5km with Emily.

Dead.

Run 42:04 [2] 7.13 km (5:54 / km) +140m 5:22 / km
shoes: Adizero RC 2

Day off work, so got myself out in the lovely sunny morning.
Some Hermitage and Blackford, what else?

Right hip a tad sore, and legs tired after yesterday, so just taking it very easy.

Legs remarkably fairly unscathed though, hands took the brunt of it. Cancelled the planned gym, holding a barbell wouldn't be too fun at the moment.

Run 3:09:25 [2] 21.81 km (8:41 / km) +1300m 6:41 / km
shoes: Mudroc 290s

Drove to Blair Atholl to meet Calum for some Monday Munros on Beinn a'Ghlo.

Started by Loch Moraig, track for a couple km then forked left on the path up the hill. A very nice one it was too, and I was feeling pretty good on the climb. Content to just vibe and match Calum's pace though.

We disappeared into the clag and rain pretty swiftly so summitted Carn Liath in the mist, then some easy running down the ridge before we popped out the bottom of the cloud and got a glimpse of the next climb.

Soon back into cloud though, and eventually came across the cairn of Braigh Coire Chruinn-bhalgain. Picked up the path off without any issues and headed down to the bealach.
Last climb to the ridge, and the forecast 35mph winds finally appeared once we made it up. Rough going across the rocks, so it was finally cagoule time once we reached the cairn.
Back down via Airgoid Bheinn to pick up a cheeky top and then the world's rockiest descent back into the valley.

Was very excited to get out the cloud and onto a proper path again, so was pushing the pace to see if we could sneak under 3 hours. Unfortunately the Munro Gods demanded a blood sacrifice, and conspired to make me trip on the flattest piece of ground we'd been on for hours. Tore up my hands fairly nicely, and a good amount of bacon down my whole right side.

Limped back in, but still a very enjoyable day out. Hills promptly cleared of cloud and sun came out once we reached the cars, which is fairly typical

Ideally would have gone yesterday to gym, but all the slots were gone when I looked on Wednesday. Gonna have to start setting an alarm to book it ;_;

Lazy day, legs tired from the weekend

8 AM

Walk 6:30:00 [0] 19.0 km (20:32 / km) +1400m 15:00 / km

Up before the sun cleared the hills today, knew the car park in Invervar was quite small. There long before 8, but tragically so was everyone else it seemed!

Had breakfast parked on the verge, then set off up. Almost immediately stopped to strip off - above the mist hanging in Glen Lyon, it was another beautiful day.

Sweaty stuff up Carn Gorm, though once up on the grassy ridge it was ideal conditions, fast walking with a gentle breeze. Views for miles to the Cairngorms and over Rannoch Moor, Glen Coe looking especially magnificent (but I imagine it was hoaching)

Meall Garbh passed without incident, and stopped for a picturesque lunch on the tor on Carn Mairg before picking up Creag Mhor for the final Munro of the day. Legs ruined by the descent back down, but for sure earned ourselves the fish and chips for tea.

An extremely enjoyable day out, and weekend. Glad to get the weekend in the dying days of Summer, and before the looming spectre of a second lockdown

8 AM

Run 1:38:54 [1] 8.7 km (11:22 / km) +650m 8:17 / km
shoes: Mudroc 290s

Up with the sunrise and had a leisurely breakfast before we set off up the first Munro of the day - Stuchd an Lochain.

Bit steep and boggy to the ridge, but then an enjoyable time to the summit. Clearly a lot of other people had the same idea - saw 50 others heading up as we descended back to the tent
11 AM

Run 1:31:18 [1] 8.5 km (10:44 / km) +500m 8:18 / km
shoes: Mudroc 290s

After some elevenses we set off up Meall Buidhe. Less steep, but much more boggy than this morning, and with tired legs it was slow going.

Once again when we got onto the ridge it was great though - unbelievably nice weather, with cracking views for miles. Not a cloud to be seen.

After some lunch went for a dip in the Loch and got hypothermia, lovely stuff

Note
(rest day)

Drove North in the evening, and found a camping spot up by Loch An Daimh.

Many stars to be seen, and even saw the ISS go overhead, pretty cool

Jogged the long way to the gym from work, via Radical Road

Couldn't find my rucksack in my haste this morning, and a shitty string bag was not the way to go. Ended up with my shoes under my arms

Strength and Conditioning 45:00 [0]

Gym, not too busy which was nice. Couple of minutes queue for a rack

Limber 11

4x5 Back Squat (20, 40, 60 warm-up, 80, 80, 85, 85kg)
3x5 Deadlift (60 warm-up, 80, 90, 95kg)

Run 5:40 [2] 0.9 km (6:18 / km) +30m 5:24 / km
shoes: Adizero RC 2

Started jogging back, but legs popped by the time I reached the meadows and the bag was really pissing me off, so just walked the rest.

To/from intervals via the Hermitage

Run 28:56 [4] 6.3 km (4:36 / km) +100m 4:15 / km
shoes: Mudroc 290s

Intervals on the old Hermitage golf course.

Worked out a 1 mile loop on grass paths, 25m climb. Quite good, but there's not much in the way of flat running - either going down or heading back up.
Enjoyable though, will be back if I don't end up going to the EUOC ones on the Killing Fields. We shall see, KF is a bit of a trek from Morningside and with the gym changing rooms closed for now, a lot more faff.

4x6 minutes [1.5 minutes]
~1.5km for each rep

4x 50m sprinty guys at the end

Circuit gym closed and My gym full of people, so no warm-up was done.
Paid for it a bit with heavy legs and a tight back during, never mind

3x5 Dead lift (60 warm-up, 80, 90, 94kg)

Then I went home, heart wasn't in it for anything else

Enjoyable time, if rather domsy. Good feels though

With Rona, socially distanced of course

Reacquired shoes made this feel much better than Monday.
Definitely can see the potential for massive queues once more students come back. Need to keep the sessions as lean as possible - no more extravagant warm-ups for me

Limber 11

3x8 Back Squat (20, 40, 60 warm-up, 80, 80, 80kg)
3x8 Deadlift (60, 70 warm-up, 80, 90, 90kg)

From the flat to gym, getting very soggy

Strength and Conditioning 30:00 [0]

Gym is back open, all aboard the hype train

Just a very short session to get back into the swing of things. My shoes were locked away in an inaccessible locker which was a little tragic

x5 Back Squat (20, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80kg)
x5 Deadlift (60, 70, 80, 90kg)

Felt like it's been a long time since I picked up a bar!

Run 34:42 [2] 6.12 km (5:40 / km) +130m 5:08 / km
shoes: Adizero RC 2

From the gym to Circus Lane to drop off old flat keys, then back to home.
The insta DOMS made this a bit of a crawl

Tired boy, but persuaded out into the evening sun.

A wonderful surprise when we bumped into Ali, Tim and Matt, a very serendipitous meeting.
