Braids Hill Race
Was a bit apprehensive about this beforehand, I just didn't want to go over 40 minutes and realise quite how slow I am.
Unfortunately I also had no idea what I was capable of doing, which made pacing a bit hard, so I took the first lap not too crazy, with the thought of pushing on a bit more on the second if it was possible.
Took the hill relatively steady, but it still hurt, though the stupidly slow descending of the people infront of me meant I couldn't help but recover some. It wasn't comfortable, but it wasn't too awful either, so I was glad to see that the first lap at least came in under 20 minutes.
Pushed slightly more on the hill so though it was still slower the 2nd time, it meant I was ahead of the pack of people I'd been sort of running with.
The folks ahead were a fair way off, but I started slightly reeling them in while still fearing I'd bonk or something.
Unfounded fears as it turned out, because I way too much energy for a fast finish, and almost caught those ahead, but I suppose it's just from a lack of proper training recently playing on my mind.
Anyway, enough waffling.
1st lap - 19:46
2nd lap - 19:33
So negative splits, which is nice, and not too far behind 2015 which I suppose is nice(?). On a par with 2014, which probably isn't very good really, but I'll take it.
Ground was very very dry though, I barely got muddy.
