Bike rogaine on the same map and course as last night. Racing with Matt Corbs.
Wasn't looking forward to it as the trails last night looked crappy and hard for riding. But woke up and it was sunny, warm, and I was feeling good. Didn't have enough time to really work out a route so decided to ride up through the middle to get the controls down south that we skipped last night. It was much nicer riding than I thought it would be and no need to try and cut corners as when on foot so no mountains of blackberries to deal with. The controls were a lot easier to find in the day and plus I'd already been to most of them. The south end was really good for riding and I was getting pretty hot. Actually hoped that it would sprinkle a little so I could cool off. Then it started to rail and got windy with the temperature dropping instantly. We got to the drinks control at 69 then got a couple of closer controls before starting the big climb again. Was tough going but pushed and rode along. Pretty cold and wet at the top and then we froze on the descent! So cold and I didn't have anything warm. We picked up a few more controls in the middle but were struggling and both shaking so called it quits and headed back to HH for a quick feed before heading home for a hot shower.
Happy to do both rogaines and good practice with the maps.

5hr night rogaine with Tomas Krajca
Racing against Lazy Dave and Steve.
Difficult course to work out a good route. We headed off with a bit of a plan but plenty of options available. From the 2nd control we tried to cut straight down the hill to the bottom trails but hit a gully full of blackberries. We knew this would be a problem but thought you would be able to find a way through. Nope. We tried a few time and could see the track 20m away but were stuck. Tried to follow the little trail that we were on up the gully but it was also overgrown so went down the hill and right around. Lesson learnt.
Until we got to a control which had a big climb up onto the mountain on the east of the map. You could follow the trails all the way around or go straight off road. We thought we might be too high now for the black berries but got stuck again, this time we decided to push through. Tomas led the way and we soon had 3m high walls of blackberries. Had to use some logs to help flatten the path. Finally got through but lost time on the other teams that went around. This time we learnt our lesson. Half of the controls we would get to the circle and spend a good 5 mins to find the CP, pretty frustrating. Felt pretty good for the rest of the way and hammed home from the top of the big climb in an hour. Had 16mins when we got to the HH and could have maybe picked up 30 more point but called it a night.
Took out the win and a trophy!
Steve food bonked so they struggled around the second half.
