It was better after actually sleeping at night, but I still was pathetically slow up hills. But that's fiine, we were all suffering.
This is up to the spot where we had our lunch. It was apparently a bit more complicated to meet at that spot than we expected.
So at our first road crossing, there was a sign that said "Weverton Cliffs: 6 miles" and I mentioned that's where I thought we could have lunch, and the others agreed. To be specific, I said, "We're gonna be having lunch at that parking lot". Because I forgot that the cliffs were actually a thing, too. But I definitely said "at the parking lot".
So about 2.5 miles before the parking lot, I told my friends to just go ahead without me and just get to the parking lot and wait for me there, cuz I didn't want them to stop every few hundred meters just for me to catch up. So they went, and the two guys were fast since they're just really tall. But I kept catching glimpses of my third friend, Elishka, about 50m ahead of me. After about 2 miles, we come to an intersection with a trail that leads to the Weverton Cliffs. I see Elishka turn down to continue on the Appalachian trail, so I figured that it was easy to understand that I meant the parking lot, not the cliffs. So we get to the bottom of the endlessly steep hill, and right before crossing a road to sit down at the parking lot, and we get a text from one of the guys asking what's taking so long. I responded that we're barely 100m away.
Then he mentions that they're at the W. Cliffs, and I realized that they were on top of the hill we just went down. So I told them to come down and meet us at the parking lot, that there was apparently a bit of a miscommunication.
So yeah so much for it being difficult to get lost on the Appalachian trail. Good thing we had signal there though
