watch didn't measure so these are my best guesses for dist and climb based on plotaroute and counting contours.

had a massive panic attack on the way to 4. everything was overwhelming me. even the damn clothes I was wearing felt like they were suffocating me. so yeah i didn't finish even the first loop. i felt like shit both mentally and physically.

this was supposed to be an 8km course

Immediately I could feel the difference in the skis. Glide wax really helped, it was so much easier than yesterday (until the soreness set in).

Messed up #2, I went to 24 first because numbers are hard. From 10-11, I gor teleported by jesus christ himself and didn't realize until I checked my compass. For 20, I wasn't sure if I punched it because I zoned out completely, so that's why I stopped on my way to 21.

Overall I enjoyed the tiny trails (like snowshoe and narrow groomed) so much more than the wide groomed because it gave me a good reason to 1. be slow and 2. give my legs a break. Yeah my arms were dying, but I could (for some reason) handle that better than my legs dying. Weird, considering I run a lot more often than I do upper body.

Between controls 8 and 18 I was completely suffering. Every contour felt impossible to climb, and I was just suffering. But before 8 and after 18 I was having a good time.

pavement again because I got lazy.

Did the map exercise Greg posted on his log recently. The filling in the control circle exercise has always seemed impossible to me, but this time it went fairly well. I did the exercise and then I drew my route choices.

It's fascinating that even though I'm just running back and forth on one street, just the fact that I'm staring at a map most of the time makes it not mindnumbing. Usually I'd go insane out of boredom.

really tired out around 9. Thought I got 13 and started heading to 14, realized I never hit 13 and was close to 15 and I seriously did not feel like going back to 13 and 14.

at 2 I left the control in the complete wrong direction.

other than that nav was okay. running was not. I realized that I'm just extremely mentally weak. I can't force myself to run unless I explicitly feel like it or have a ton of energy. Like I knew I could physically handle running, even just a jog, but I couldn't force myself to most of the time for no other reason than that I didn't feel like it. it's dumb. I've tried to work on this for ages. but I just can't. I've found this in other parts of my life, too. I'm just mentally weak and I don't know how to fix it.

running with a map exercise

disgusted with myself for this run. I was taking it easy and I know I'm slow but goddammit I didn't realize I was this slow. I ran slower than 8min/km and that's just extremely disappointing.
