Wednesday Feb 28 | ||
| Orienteering race (Summer Series) 45:00 [4] ** 10 km (4:30 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: New Balance 781 | ||
| At Pottery Green this week, first time I have been for months. Started out ok, and went through some good phases, but also some poor ones as well. Didnt really feel like I had the legs. Got 410 i think, Andy probably got over 500. | ||
Tuesday Feb 27 | ||
| run 56:00 [3] 11 km (5:05 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: Nike Stucture Triax 9 | ||
| Good run down to Tunks Park and out to Hallstrom Pt and back along the Northbridge Track. Felt pretty good, unticking the injury box now because the leg felt solid the whole way, even up The Bastard (new name for the stair hill from Tunks Park to my place). | ||
Monday Feb 26 | ||
| run warm up/down 27:00 [3] 5 km (5:24 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: Asics 2100 | ||
| I guess you could it a warm/down, because I was going to/from intervals. But it was at normal pace. Down to Balls Head from home Andy drove me most of the way home because it was pouring rain and I cant handle running in the rain any more. | ||
| run intervals 55:00 [4] *** 10 km (5:30 / km) | ||
| (injured) shoes: Asics 2100 | ||
| Longish reps at Balls Head with Andy, Prong , Ezy and NSW Stinger. 2 sprint orienteering courses thrown into the mix as well. Didnt really keep the pace with the rest, just kept a solid pace. Calf pulled up well. Pouring rain most of the time so everyone seemed a bit rattled. | ||
Sunday Feb 25 | ||
| run 1:07:00 [3] 14 km (4:47 / km) | ||
| slept:8.0 (injured) shoes: Asics 2100 | ||
| From home down across the harbour bridge and back with Margo. Strode out quite well for the first time in a while, kept my stride a bit stilted though.
Margo was impressive. | ||
Saturday Feb 24 | ||
| run 47:00 [3] 9 km (5:13 / km) | ||
| slept:8.0 (injured) shoes: Nike Stucture Triax 9 | ||
| Down at Tunks Park. Did a few laps of the flat part, doing my knees-up-flat-footed run, surprised at how efective it is. Still being real careful on the hills there and back.
Running in the rain for a bit, I think that twice in two weeks! Bye bye el nino.
Friday Feb 23 | ||
| run 15:00 [3] 3 km (5:00 / km) | ||
| slept:6.0 shoes: Nike Stucture Triax 9 | ||
| Warm up and running to and from Proimrose Park. Normal pace. Stayed off right leg as usual. | ||
| C • shouldn't that be hopping then... 3 | ||
| run intervals 37:00 [4] | ||
| (injured) shoes: Nike Stucture Triax 9 | ||
| 12 x 2 minute efforts with a bit of stretching in between (mainly the calf). Did the intervals in a strange way where I put no stress on my calves, sort of a knee lift exercise, so I was not going fast but putting in fair bit of effort.
Impressive. | ||
Wednesday Feb 21 | ||
| Soccer 30:00 [3] 3 km (10:00 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: Asics 2100 | ||
| Got out and played soccer for the work team seeing as I was in town. Ran around like a crazy man, didnt seem to be too effective though. Calf was pretty sore by the end. Lost 2-1 by the way. | ||
| C • elbow 2 | ||
| run 47:00 [3] 9 km (5:13 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics 2100 | ||
| To and from soccer from home, the usual way. Going home was slower with the bung calf. | ||
Sunday Feb 18 | ||
| run 1:15:00 [3] 15 km (5:00 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: Asics 2100 | ||
| From Bondi Junction to home after watching The Pursuit of Happyness. After that movie, I felt like I could do anything. Except get rid of the soreness in my calf. | ||
Saturday Feb 17 | ||
| run 1:04:00 [3] 13 km (4:55 / km) | ||
| shoes: Nike Stucture Triax 9 | ||
| Along the coast from Lennox Head, over the point and down to the next beach, and back. Early morning so feeling pretty off. Beautiful coastline.
Drove home from Lennox to Sydney after.
Friday Feb 16 | ||
| run (Fartlek) 31:00 [4] 5 km (6:12 / km) | ||
| slept:6.0 shoes: Nike Stucture Triax 9 | ||
| 5 laps around the block (literally) at Lennox Head. The loop was 1km even - the 2nd and 4th laps were 4:00 each and the other three laps were between 5:00 and 6:00. A bit of stretching between each lap makes up the rest.
A very flat run which helped my right calf alot, along with the stretching.
Tuesday Feb 13 | ||
| run 55:00 [3] 11 km (5:00 / km) | ||
| slept:6.0 shoes: Nike Stucture Triax 9 | ||
| Run from Lennox Head north along the back beach track and back along the beach. The sand running has helped my calf injury alot and I was comfortably in full stride by the end of the run. It was an angry weather day with rain storms everywhere. The beach had all this green crap washed up as well as various bits of rubbish. | ||
Sunday Feb 11 | ||
| run long 2:00:00 [3] 24 km (5:00 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: Nike Stucture Triax 9 | ||
| From Collaroy to Cammeray, taking the Spit route. Took it real easy, but I couldnt go very quick because the injury I got during the week is still hanging around. Pretty much hobbled.
Glad I did it though, but I am not sure how long my leg is going to be bad, I suspect these sort of trainings dont help.

Thursday Feb 8 | ||
| run 45:00 [2] | ||
| slept:5.0 shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Started out OK, planned a pretty easy run down to the Harbour Bridge and back, avoiding the main roads. Got about 20mins in and suddenly felt like someone had shot a bb gun into my lower right calf. Limped home cursing, managed a slow jog most of the way.
Last time this happened last year I couldnt run properly for weeks. I think its the shoes -theyre really old and the main connection to last time- into the bin!
Tuesday Feb 6 | ||
| run intervals 15:00 [5] | ||
| slept:5.0 shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Diallled up the pace for some efforts around the cricket oval at Lennox Head. 5 x 500m (1'34, 1'33, 1'30, 1'29, 1'23). Almost headed home after 3 but hardened the f*ck up.
May sound soft but backing up after a day in the field needs a bigger effort than usual.
| run warm up/down 15:00 [2] | ||
| shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Down to Lennox Oval and back. Had a look at a cool "Bora Ring" near the oval where Aboriginal boys did the ceremony to become men.
I need some of that. | ||
Monday Feb 5 | ||
| run 58:00 [3] | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Felt pretty good on this run except for deep soreness in my right calf.
Did an out and back on the track thru the sandy heathland behind Lennox Beach - the sun setting over km's of rolling waist-high heath has been a highlight of the work stint up here. I think good sleep and no fieldwork today helped to feel good on the run.
Friday Feb 2 | ||
| run 48:00 [3] | ||
| slept:14.0 shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Out and back along the Lennox Beach back track. Woke up at lunchtime saturday for some reason - didnt even go out the night before. | ||
Thursday Feb 1 | ||
| run 36:00 [3] | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Around the tracks behind Lennox Head beach. Felt a little weird and off at the start but came home ok. Need to start doing something longer than 40 mins. | ||
