| run tempo 25:00 [4] | ||
| slept:7.0 (injured) shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Ran hard to work and back to get maps printed for stingers training. Needn't have bothered because nobody could come anyway. No commitment. No wonder cockatoos are back on top. | ||
Wednesday Aug 30 | ||
| run 25:00 [3] | ||
| slept:7.0 weight:73kg (injured) shoes: New Balance 781 | ||
| Ran down to soccer. The first exercise for two weeks, my whole running system felt rusty. The thigh was ok, a bit tight and achy. | ||

| The Grand Final, and also my first game of the season because of injury and work commitments.
It was a tense, defensive oriented game until our goalie went to clear the ball and but hammered it into one of our back's heads, which then ricocheted straight back past him into the goals. This totally broke our concentration, we were laughing too hard, and they put another one on us, so we ended up losing 2-0. Still got a little trophy! Pulled up well though. Made a couple of good setup passes and shots on goal.

| Swimming 1:00:00 [3] | ||
| slept:8.0 weight:73kg | ||
| Went down to Willoughby Leisure Centre to do some pool running, but the pool is only 1m deep for most of the way, so I decided to do some swimming. Flailed around in the slow lane for an hour trying not to look like a cat struggling in the rising floodwaters. Put in a sizzling 1:02 for 50m at one stage - looking good for Beijing!
It did the leg a world of good, I can go down stairs without buckling now.

| Orienteering (Stingers Training) 25:00 [4] ** | ||

| Well, I was going well until the third control on the first of three courses. Then I decided to try to keep up with Fat Rat out of the control along a greasy rocky track, he with a silva trucklamp and me with an LED headlight. Got to an off-camber corner going at pretty much 100% pace and lost it. Slid over and cracked my mouth on one of the sandstone steps in front of me. Real skateboard video blooper stuff. I lost half a front tooth (at first I was scared I lost heaps) and the rest went clear through my bottom lip. Lots of blood. Mark Schaefer was decent enough to drive me home and I went and waited 7 hours to be seen at North Shore Hospital - for ONE stitch! Its a bizarre feeling to have the doctor try to inject local into the wound only for it to come straight out the other side into my mouth. I also managed to badly cork my thigh into the deal so now its hard to even walk and wont be having a run in Qld.
Still a good run otherwise.

| Orienteering (Stingers training) 1:40:00 [4] | ||
| slept:7.0 weight:72kg shoes: New Balance 781 | ||
| Orienteering sprints around Clifton Gardens with most of the usual crowd. 3 courses of about 20 mins each, ran ok, good to get a map in my hand.
Including warm up, warm down and waits between races.
Sunday Aug 13 | ||
| run 35:00 [3] | ||
| slept:8.0 weight:72kg shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Just ran down to St Leonards park and did a few quick runs around North Sydney Oval. About 5x2mins with 1 min rest.
Calf still no good. Worse with massage and ice.
Thursday Aug 10 | ||
| run 58:00 [3] 12 km (4:50 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Ran up the roads towards Mt Coot-tha at night. My right calf was real tight and sore, so the hills became a shuffle but went a bit hard on the flat/downhill. Nice run. | ||
Wednesday Aug 9 | ||
| run 35:00 [3] | ||
| slept:7.0 weight:72kg | ||
| Tried running along the river towards the city but again the calf started burning after 15 mins, jogged back slowly. Feeling good otherwise. Ice again. Feeling a bit better this morning.
Full moon was out over the river tonite during the run. Real Kodak (or lame souvenir postcard) moment.
Tuesday Aug 8 | ||
| run 35:00 [3] | ||
| slept:7.0 weight:72kg shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Ran from where I'm staying in Auchenflower towards Mt Coot-tha (why does it need to be spelt phonetically?) but pulled up sore with bad calf. Jogged back slowly after 15 mins. Iced it all evening.
Hope it's better for the Qld NOLs.
Saturday Aug 5 | ||
| run long 1:45:00 [3] | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: Asics 1090 | ||
| Ran back from Margos dads place in Manly to Cammeray, along the Manly to Spit Bridge run and then roads, after an all-arvo lunch so the stomach was flippin a bit at the start. Felt pretty good otherwise. It started to get dark along the trail so I took it easy for the last bit to the bridge.
Really nice views. Went and watched WOC relay at rob's and realised what I had missed out on all week. Great running girls.

| run tempo 1:05:00 [4] 16 km (4:04 / km) | ||
| slept:6.0 weight:73kg shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Around the Brisbane foreshore, across a pedestrian bridge and along the other side, felt like I really hammered on this one, tried to keep 4min k's and did so.
Very satisfied. Have not heard peep from my knee for the last week, great!
Wednesday Aug 2 | ||
| run 35:00 [3] 7 km (5:00 / km) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Run along Brisbane foreshore in the morning, still dark but warm enough to only wear o-top. Nice.
Started work at 7 so real early run. I hate mornings.
Tuesday Aug 1 | ||
| run long 1:35:00 [3] 20 km (4:45 / km) | ||
| slept:6.0 shoes: asics 1110 | ||
| Great run around the Brisbane River foreshore. They have a great walkway/cycleway system here and I ran along both sides of the river for 40 mins without ever having to road run. The walkway even goes out onto the river at one spot, felt like Jesus for a while!
Great weather, relaxed, easy to get around, cheap, no wonder so many people are moving here.
