run (Commute) 56:00 [3] 11.3 km (4:57 / km)
shoes: Asics Nimbus 9

Felt great today, pushed it a bit, felt a couple of small twinges which warned me not to turn it into a full blown tempo run. I think the time is a pb, and it felt much more effortless than the time I beat. Something must be going right.

Note

Woke up at 6 with a headache after kids-induced-almost-no-sleep, so had some panadol and went back to bed. Woke up feeling fresh as a daisy at the time I should have been milling around the start, oh well, meh.

An advantage was getting more miniature railway time in! Took the family to the Canning River park to go on this amazingly detailed mini railway, full network, proper stations with announcements etc. Lots of dads there having just as much fun as the kids :)

run warm up/down 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

2 PM

Orienteering race (WA Middle Champs) 36:20 [5] **** 4.8 km (7:34 / km) +170m 6:26 / km
shoes: Helly Hansen Trailcutters

Started out fairly steady, trying to get some competitive fire going. I spiked 1, which helped and I started to feel like I could go ok. But then I buggered number 2 by something like 2-3 mins but I started getting the old technique back after that and although I lost 10-15 secs in the circle on a few controls, I got around ok. Physically I didnt have the terrain strength and struggled up most inclines, walked most of the big hill on the the long leg back (9?).
Definitely alot of room for improvement but happy to get 3rd, a few mins behind Craig and a minute or so behind fletch.
