10 AM

Trail Running 1:06:58 [3] 8.27 mi (8:06 / mi) +210m 7:30 / mi

Run from Muiravonside onto the canal, golf hill, through Linlithgow to the Avon, then up the muddy Avon to the canal, out on the canal to the west a bit and loop back to Muiravonside via road & track. Did drills after one mile. Ran with Kane, Callan & Graham. Raining the whole way. Felt not too bad apart from any up hills where I felt rubbish. Oh to feel properly fit again!

Trail Running 12:45 [2] 1.63 mi (7:49 / mi) +40m 7:16 / mi

Warm up to the first checkpoint and back. Also did an earlier walk up to the monument and back with Tom L.

Trail Running 43:23 [5] 6.21 mi (6:59 / mi) +300m 6:04 / mi

Devil's Burdens Leg 4 - In Carnethy vets team. Was going unbelievably well by end of second leg when we were in 3rd overall and good gap on Shetts vets. Unfortunately by next changeover Shetts were ahead and we'd dropped at least 5mins over expected, but Drew appeared hobbling down the hill behind Mike. He'd had a fall around halfway and transpires he chipped an ankle bone and damaged medial ligaments, so a miracle he finished. Set of hard in the hope I might regain on Shetts. At far loop I saw Steven from Shetts half a minute behind but knew he'd gone out over the monument which I had to do on the way back. Still pushed hard but he got back quite a bit ahead and I think we ran similar times. Hard to tell which route choices/directions worked better, think a lot are 50:50. Ran OK but climbing is not great. Hopefully will improve with good health and training. Great event as ever and new format is far more sociable. 7th overall and 2nd vets team fine given circumstances. Great the A team won.
