Beecraigs run with Hanna from the loch car park via Guthries and the loch. Nice and chatty for the first half at least. Very wet the whole way, and partially misty. Enjoyed it.

Scottish Orienteering Champs - Craig Leach M50 - 10th/18
The race kind of followed a 80:20 rule where I enjoyed and executed 80% pretty well (for me), but just had too many muck ups on a few controls. It was generally the tracks/mountain bike tracks which let me down as I was pretty solid (for me) on the compass bearing legs. Was slightly off on #2 hitting the knoll to the north. All ok then on the bearings to #8 (btw, how was our #7 to #8 on the Light Green course!). Then on #9 changed tack and ran round the paths then fluffed the execution coming off the track and had to relocate back on the track before another go. Argh! Really nice again up to #15. #16 was pretty dodgy trying to find a way down. #17 to #18 there were so many tracks I ended up bailing off to the right a little early then confusing myself as to which zig zag I hit lower down on the main track. Took a chance and guessed wrong so took a while to sort it out. Bit if a slog back over the hill, then #22 was a joke. Big mistake not checking control description (thicket end rather than track junction), but I did actually run down the right track but must've passed it, and couldn't work out what the dark green was. Thoroughly confusing stuff, and ended up at the bottom of the hill to try and work out where I was, relocated off another course's control, and had a stiff climb back up to get it. Felt it could so easily have been 10mins+ quicker, but it wasn't! At least I finished this year (no missed punches!).

Bantaskine WEE
Definitely a night for questioning the sanity when we left the house in biblical rain. Credit to Steve, assisted by Chris, for hosting the event at all. Good to get a run in, though managed to fritter away time right, left and centre. Only real silly (as opposed to scrappy/unlucky) time loss was on #10 with an initial out & back on the canal, then an overshoot punished by a jungle. HR would suggest motivation was a bit lacking!
