O - BOK Blast Day 2, Urban

Loved this. Hadn't been sure if the local knowledge I'd gathered having lived in the Camden Road area of Bath between 1976-99 would help or not, and it was great. I looked at the map and instinctively knew where to go. Still managed a couple of erratic route choices by sticking to the river bank to 11 and 12, but overall it was fun and I was happy with my performance.

Lots of tourists to duck and dive between, and despite there being two controlled road crossings there was still more traffic than usual to contend with. Despite those issues, I hope we can race there again sometime.

Event: BOK Blast

12 PM

Orienteering race 27:11 [4] 2.78 km (9:47 / km) +13m 9:33 / km
shoes: Karrimor Tempo 3 Trail

O - BOK Blast Day 1, Sprint prologue

I enjoyed this until I downloaded and learnt that I'd missed 16, 2nd time in 7 days I shortened a course!

Mostly urban around University of Bath campus, with a little bit of fieldwork to start off with.

Furious with myself for missing a control yet again, but grateful for the opportunity to make amends on the same day.
2 PM

Orienteering race 34:21 [4] 3.45 km (9:57 / km) +19m 9:41 / km
shoes: Karrimor Tempo 3 Trail

O - BOK Blast Day 1, Sprint final

Taking extra care to ensure I completed the course properly, I struggled with 9 as I went to the wrong level and couldn't access the right one from where I was without retracing my steps,

Couldn't quite work out which direction I was facing after 16 so took a safe route to 17 and then was fooled (as were many) by 18, which "should" have been between the 2 ornamental lakes but turned out to be on the level above.

Relieved at download to have managed the complete course.

with NRBG . . or not, as I ran on my own whilst the rest of the gang went further than my knees could cope with . .

ran for 4k and then walked the remainder of the course, as by then it felt like I was probably doing more harm than good . .

disappointed with the run but enjoyed a nice evening all the same . .

With NBRG . . knees took a long time to warm up, and the rest of me was even slower. Felt like I'd taken a few steps back but it's been a tough few days. Good little run, with good company.
