Was 10cm away from stepping on a snake 1 minute into this run so then spent the next 101 minutes crapping my pants at every stick over the trail or rustle in the grass next to me. Classic aussie summer run experience, at least there's a pretty low risk of me having problems like this next year

Vic Sprint Champs in central Bendigo. Shame this was just after the cutoff for world of o's course of the year because I thought this was definitely the best sprint course I ran this year, cheers to Toph for that. Really varied, a lot of different options and some awesome sections like the fernery/maze bit. Relatively good performance, picked a few sub optimal routes (eg. not spotting the little gap into 12 and only noticing the fence below it halfway through the leg) but nothing too bad. Didn't quite get the trophy that I wanted badly but happy enough to be competitive with a quality M21s field and a really fun way to end a great weekend of racing

Sprint into Spring at Bendigo South East College. Started reading the new Australian Orienteer while waiting around for the start and the bit were Blair devoted a whole paragraph to the fact that I got run over by the Haines train got me pretty motivated. Not the cleanest run but ok and got the job done

Really fun forest sprint, tricky enough that you had to navigate the whole time but you could still keep up a decent speed the whole way. We had to leave early which forced me to be first starter and I thought this would disadvantage me a bit (given that 80 people on the same course where there is waist high grass all over the map tends to lead to a little bit of tracking) but somehow my time held up ok. Guess it was one of those days where its tricky enough that a clean run with average speed is good enough to get decent results

Middle distance at Mt Alexander with the Finns. Started from the north side of the map which meant we went into some cool flatter bits with both scattered granite and gold mining which was fun. Held back a little because of the races on the weekend

Pretty slippery out there but even so, starting to feel like I'm getting quicker through the forest again
