Cycling 5:04:30 [3] 63.13 km (12.4 kph) +2382m

Bike Park Wales uplift.

Always a winner with the quality of the trails here. Add to that all the raggers in one place and it's a recipe for grins!

11 runs and 60km of dust and speed. Kept riding so long we started making some big mistakes by the end of the day but we all walked away in one piece.

I'd finished my Roundel meters yesterday but John was still a few hundred short. Headed out for a gentle ride to H'sage for breakfast. Legs felt terrible to begin with but soon loosened up. Lovely morning and nice to see the peaks on a weekday morning. Coffee and breakfast with John, Anna and Zac then a ride home with wheelies and all sorts of messing about. Great fun :-D! Now, best get some house work done.

Blue Steel

I missed last week so despite being low on energy figured some stretching and upper body work woundn't hurt. Wrong! Still hurt but I managed. Need to cool down now, so hot!

This was on of those Roundel days people have told me about - going out simply for metres. Find a hill, climb, descend, repeat. Luckily the evening was beautiful and there are plenty of climbs to choose from. Felt good for the first 40m then thought it was going to be hell all the way round. Fortunately, after warming up I felt surprisingly strong - maybe I'm getting fitter!? Lasted until the final climb where the fatigue hit quite hard. Still PB'd up that climb so can't be too bad. Legs are feeling surprisingly not sore - calm before the DOMS storm?

Lejogger monday ride

I seem to have become the champion for the Monday ride. Not sure how but I'll run with it. David from BMS was there again (on a more sensible bike too) along with Rob Sykes and Rachel so we had a good crew. Headed out again for the same Bradfield loop as last week. It was a very steady pace again, mainly to keep David in touch.

David and the rest of us parted ways at the A57 and I was planning on a loop round Mam Nic then onward somewhere else. Rob and Rachel were keen to join so we dropped Rachel's bags off and headed out. Legs were feeling very empty after Sunday's ride so tried to keep it sensible. Rob turned out to be remarkably fit and didn't seem bothered by anything we did! Frustrating since he's a) old and b) only been cycling for 8 weeks! Anyway at every main junction I pushed on for more distance (and height) and every kept coming with me. Ended up being quite a long ride with no real stops or food so by the Higgar Tor climb I was beat. Cruised home and ate the contents of the fridge :-)

Rising Roundel kickoff ride - Aka the DDR - desperate Dad's ride.

Relatively early start with all the Dads who were allowed out for a ride. John planned a long route through the south Peaks. Felt great to the 80km mark then really struggled after that even though I ate and drank plenty. Didn't want to blow the legs up too early with the rest of the week ahead - think I managed it.
