Walking 20:00 [2]

From home on a hot morning. Walked fast for 15mins to warm up achilles. Felt fine so did 10mins of running and drills, then 5 mins walk at end. Tried to keep under trees as much as possible. Felt a bit sore in the arvo after some time in the Canberra centre. Since I have not done any Shop-specific walking for 6 months I think it's just a case of Shopping Legs. But should take care.

Note
weight:62.5kg (rest day)

Oh look, rather fat at the moment. Better have a rest day, eat lots and give the achilles time off. If I'm good I'll post a yoga session later (=commitment).

Strength Stability Suppleness (yoga at home) 40:00 [3]

Abs! And other core stuff and leg flexibility.

Walking (Bushwalk) 1:40:00 [2]

Took Sus and Cat on scenic bushwalk on blackie. Slow walk with 3 big rests, just what the body needed. Not really sure how long we actually walked so time is a guess. Route - around near side of LBM, thru saddle, Callitris, Pushbike Hill, ALJ memorial single track, crossed road at water tanks, Bot gdns FT and back to car under pines.

Cat, while looking at her phone*, stepped on a snake. Both she and the black snake were vigorously trying to get away from each other but in this mad dance with expletives Cat stepped on the tip of it's tail. I watched the whole thing from a few metres behind her while Sus ran away out front, there was nothing I could do and fortunately no biting happened.

*Let that be a warning to all!
*In Cat's defense, she had just answered a call that she had to answer and was in process of turning phone off (at least I don't think she was checking fb).

Cycling 26:00 [2]

Walking (You've Got Options) 18:00 [3]

Hot. Parked bike at upper gate, walked up not feeling energetic. Gradually the runners all passed me. Water at top then jog down, part of circum but my heel wasn't feeling right so jog-walked back to junction then sat chatting for ages (fun!) before jogging and walking down.

Dinner was particularly jolly with a big crowd which meant we had to get our favourite table. My dinner choice, in contrast, was unappealing. Note: Don't try the seafood noodle soup again. Both prawns were nice but the various shapes of cookie cutter pink tipped "seafood" were less like food, the broth very salty but boring, the noodles not sustaining. Back to the Weegetables for me I think.

Good to move legs after tiring them out this am. To kate's and back.

Running intervals (fartlek) 14:00 [4]

With Imo on blackie, decided on some speed instead of the usual long slow chat. I need a bit more faster/harder running and Imo felt the same. Walked up ramp to start of our usual fartlek rectangle, hung our ls tops in a tree then procrastinated for a while "You start", "No, no, after you!", "Really you are too kind!"...

Finally got into an excellent session of Follow the Leader, however fast or long she chooses. I was feeling so tired and heavy this morning (probably due to there being no milk and hence no breakfast) so I was happily surprised to feel good running by about the 3rd int. We did 5 each swapping the lead each time. The first person would call out Go, the 2nd follow as close as possible until front person called out Rest. The second gets in front during the rest (which was mix of walk and jog) and decides when to call Go! for the next int. We stayed on the great single tracks just up hill from randa underpass. A really good session and pretty sure I push harder than when I try some sort of formal int session. Very short ints which helps! 14mins is the total time including rests.

Then we jogged and walked very slowly via LBM back to car under pines. Bit desperate and hungry so Imo lent me money to buy milk and bananas on way home.

Strength Stability Suppleness 40:00 [1]

Ah good, lots of core and stability. Added some calf raises ( 2x10) on flat surface to help with L achilles which still grumbles over heel/calcaneus lump.

Running (Mt Ainslie Run-Up) 20:23 [4]

Rain stopped just in time for perfect run-up weather. A very fast field today. Shortly after turning the corner I looked behind and there was only Caroline behind me - and she had a very good run. Half way up I passed a young guy but since he seemed to have almost stopped to read the uxo sign I thought he must not be part of the run-up. Trundled to the top only to find out that he was in the race, just slow because he is a lifter not a runner.

Good to see such a big crowd and some friendly faces esp Acejase (parkrun champion) who gave excellent encouragement near the top. Not enough to get me under 20 minutes. I'm going to get some good hill training in for a few months then finally crack that barrier on a cool day...

Running warm up/down 17:00 [2]

Ran from car to start with Jeremy for 2 mins warmup, not early. Jogged down by self.
