Running 40:00 [3]

41.3C max today so I was a Bit Hot on my run. Walked and jogged to gate2, ran down to Viaduct trail, up to viaduct, over trainline and into the unexplored gully beyond. There is a very rocky creek bed which was good to walk along, the path next to the creek fades out a lot. It's a steep sided gully with a different mix of eucalypts. Passed a few little waterfalls (dry because there is no water even in still pools) and some caves. I would love to see where the creek leads but I'd been out long enough and family was waiting for me to join in important Christmas Business. I'll have to leave Very early one morning. Sat on a log near a cave to drink my water, then turned back and took same way home.

I like the way everyone exchanged greetings on this one day; I had a "Merry Xmas" with a runner, walker, mtb-er, person on her deck and a singer in the church that I ducked into on the way home. As I ran past I could hear O Come All Ye Faithful and since I am sure that churches don't turn you away even if in sweaty running gear I stepped into the hallway bit. A man came out and invited me in so I explained I wanted to listen to one carol and be on my way. He was a bit persistant but I resisted, sang the descant to the second to last verse and enjoyed the alternative harmony on final verse - an old school piano player and it was an acoustic by the sound of it.

Then too much too much too much eating, especially meat. When there are a couple of chefs and an award winning restaurant in the family it's hard to restrain yourself.

The walk bits. Got to gate2 in 9.20, to viaduct track in 16, to trainline in 26, turned around at 37:20.

Running 20:00 [3]

Got out early because it's going to be hot. Did a hilly fartlek short run. Walked and jogged to the steep entrance below station, down single track, over creek and a nice long st along creek for a while. I recognise this route as the one I did few years ago. Turned up hill to top of ridge (Seaview trail), up the ridge to meet up with yesty's route, back to gate 2. Surged all the hills and felt pretty stuffed by end of it all. Mostly walked home along road. Yay good to do 3 days in a row, see how long I can keep it up. Good for staying sane over family xmas activities.

Walking 30:00 [2]

Walk in Sturt gorge with nieces the professional dog walkers and an assortment of unprofessional dogs. Set off late enough that it got dark and a few stars came out. Very nice after a hot day and I could never have better company than my nieces. Molly Max Birdie and Maxwell also had a great time.

An hour total leaving from Cath's house again. Walked to same entrance to the reserve (gate 2) which took 10mins. Down to viaduct trail then turned right along creek to end, climbed up to train line and had a peak over other side and at cave and train tunnels. It looked beautiful on the other side, big trees and a narrower gorge, would be nice to explore if I can manage a longer run. With 40C for next few days it won't be soon. Waved to a train driver. Ran home before I got faint with heat and hunger. Very enjoyable to run in a novel area, makes it easier.

Felt great to run for much longer, although achilles slightly niggly at times for rest of day. Meant to do some yoga too but managed only few minutes of core exercises.

Out with Mike and dog in Adelaide. Drove to access point (dog not fit enough to walk all the way) and had a lovely walk in Shepherd's hill reserve with views of the sea and city. It is so very dry here and the earth is hard packed and the bush looks choked with weeds. Mike sent me for a short run up the Viaduct trail which was cooler and pretty running along the creek. Really felt good to run a bit. Then some more walk hills and home for brekkie.

Yay a Birthday run with Imo on the Ridge, celebrating both our recent birthdays. Cruised around the mtb tracks chatting and catching up on all the news. Walked every hill and lamented our mutual fat and floppy state. Great start to the day.

Then I finished my lyrics about the physicist ready to record song tonight, Fun! And I do the hope the intended recipient likes his song.

the warm up, cool down, and every tiny hill.
