Such a good run and dinner! I parked below substation and walked to top. Pretty soon I was passed by a couple speaking French who were running. Haha I bet they walk the steep part. ... They didn't! Ah how wonderful it must be to be young and fit. Sometime later I came within sight of Frenchgirl, now walking, her fit friend disappeared. Then my YGO run group started to come past me (they were all running) so I used that as an excuse to speed up a little and repass Frenchgirl at a walk, pretending that I was trying to catch my friends and hadn't noticed it was a repass. That is a lot to convey with posture but I think my acting skills helped me nail it. It's always nice to say hello to the runners as they come past: Flan at the front of course.
Then Frenchboy ran back down hill and joined Frenchgirl (wow he must be fit) and encouraged her to begin running again. With his help she passed me for a second time. Damn!! Oh well, not possible to catch runners when you are walking the whole way. I kept plugging on until on steep concrete section I see Frenchgirl again, and again her running mate has left her to run back up. Oh what fun to have a secret walking race on a friday night. If only she had known we were in a secret race she would probably have tried harder ;) I hovered behind her just far enough back so that she wouldn't hear my feet, then on very steepest section with steps I zoomed past at my most powerful power walk, without breathing loudly and with much admiring of views and birdlife. All casual and smiling I was. Happy to win this (secret) race!
Drink at top then ran down to circum talking too much for a run group (simon said), then I ran a whole lap of circum at back, hardly stopping for walk rests. Ran down with Owen who commented on my fast walk up - he had been trying to catch me all the way (and he usually does).
Dinner after was full of laughter and banter, noisier than usual. Then we had Bulla icecreams afterwards instead of magnums and they are SO MUCH nicer. magnums are sickly sweet and don't resemble food much.
I have picked up a pain on outer edge of R foot about half way along, head of 5th metatarsal probably. Too much enthusiastic running
