Cooleman ridge, Mt Arawang, McQuoids hill with speedygeese long run group. A big crowd and very friendly. Very nice to run somewhere new and go up Mt Arawang (twice) and enjoy the view. Was running well on far side of McQuoids hill when Oh No! Sudden ripe blackberry sighting. Left the track and picked and ate a few berries, putting plenty in the front pouch of my run vest. Soon the last runner had gone past so I rejoined the back as I wasn't certain I could find my car alone.
A short while later drops of blood splashed onto my left thigh. Oh No! The run action had made a fruit smoothie of my blackberries and it was leaking from my left chest, down my tshirt and onto my leg. At least it was not real blood. Phew. Best plan is to eat my berries quickly. But now my right hand is purple and maybe my lips. This is all a bit embarrassing when running with a new group. I knew a few ppl by name. They seemed not to notice.

Struggled home from McQuoids as it was a longer run than usual. Rested for a bit then noticed an apple tree near the carpark. Yum! Picked some small sour apples and put in the purple stained pouch. Better. Ewan got a bit bored waiting for the extra long run group so we went up Arawang again (12:30 to top) then down towards ridge, back to car. My back was really giving me grief by end of run - sciatica in both hammies so an uphill walk helped.

Breakfast was at Meating Place which fortunately had more than meat. Or was it a meat market metaphor?? Enjoyed the banter and chat at cafe and will go again when things line up.

Running hills 1:41 [5]
shoes: old blue trailrocs

LLake hills, very short. Warmed up for 16 minutes around the block where shade and under trees by L.Lake then over hot bridge to start of mini hill. Did 2 easier in 17 seconds to ease in then 5 fast.
17, 17, 14, 15, 13, 13, 12.
About 45 seconds in between at first then more like 2:45 for last 3 so that I didn't overheat. Good choice for a hot day really, altho the hill is in sun and I was pushing hard they were short enough to feel good pretty quickly after.

Jog under trees for 5 mins after, then walked home. I startled a duckling out from under the shrubbery under a tree up away from very edge of lake. I think it might have been alone and vulnerable, no sign of parental ducks. Resisting urge to interfere because it may find it's way back to water, or maybe this type rests in shrubs on hot days. Humans interfering is not always helpful and the landlady's Killercat lives in my garden. ... was cute... maybe I could take it a drink? and a few snails?

Imo run with Dusty on majura. Cloudy and humid with the ground still damp. Perfect temp for an easy run. Good to get out after a slothful few days where I turned into a blob. Thank my running shoes it was temporary. Both Alice and David next door have expressed interest in doing a bit of running so I hope this leads to more local motivation and habits. Had a lovely impromptu dinner on their deck last night with Ross and Wendy there as well. Happy to be part of it as the scents from their deck bbq come straight in my windows and make lentil stew suddenly a bit bland.
