Urban Orienteering race 49:20 [4] 5.3 km (9:18 / km)

EUOC Big Weekend Urban Race, Veteran Men, 5.3 km in 49:20. Steady run round an unexpectedly interesting course, including some parts of Edinburgh I hadn't seen before. Down a dead end 1-2 (-0:30?), wrong side of an uncrossable wall at 4 (-1:20?), mislead by incorrect mapping of steps to take a very long way round 16-17 (-2:00?) but otherwise pretty good. [Actual distance run: 8.19 km in 51:03 with 92 m climb, including the two timed-out road crossings.]

Footnote: I'm sure I punched the moved control 102 (rather than my correct control 133) at 19! I can only assume that lots of other people did this and the organisers have taken pity on us all ...

Terrain Run 1:00:40 [4]

CLYDE Terrain Run, 356 Trig anti-clockwise on a chilly evening with Emma, Mhairi and Ty in 60:40. Wet and slushy snow on the hill, especially between the cairn and the trig causing our toes to go numb. Good workout.

Note

Really stiff right shoulder from yesterday - I think I may have injured myself trying to skip!

Strength and Conditioning. Using equipment for the first time. Turns out that I can't really skip. 60 minutes, including warm up and warm down.

Interval Session intervals 40:00 [5]

Garscube intervals, Switchback Road. 7 x 1 km reps with a big climb at the start of each interval in times ranging from 4:34 and 5:01. Tough session!

Trail Race race 25:02 [5] 4.92 km (5:05 / km) +21m 4:59 / km

Didn't fancy Cumbernauld Park, so went instead to the second Strathearn Winter Trail Race near Perth. Interesting mixture of tracks, paths, woodland and fields on a chilly day with ice and snow underfoot. 4.92 km with 21 m climb according to my Garmin. Excellent workout!
