Sunday Jan 21 #

Orienteering race 1:09:30 [4] 5.8 km (11:59 / km) +390m 8:58 / km

Steady effort on a cold day with snow on the ground and icy paths. Physical (as always!) but only minor navigational issues: hesitancy due to not being able to read the overprint on the green gorse bushes (I wasn't the only one to have this problem), a small wobble at 9 (where I caught Alice 6 mins after she missed at 7), falling and hurting my knee on the leg 15-16 (some blood and ripped trousers!), uncertainty on the leg to 18, and being very slow on the icy path 18-19. Enjoyed it, but got a bit cold when it started to snow on the climb up to 16. No breathing problems so the "ill" flag is (finally!) gone after almost a month, but right knee a bit grumbly so "injured" flag remains for the time being.

Terrain Run 10:00 [2]

Jog to start.

Saturday Jan 20 #

Cross Country Race race 27:48 [4] 5.0 km (5:34 / km)
(injured) (sick)

Steady round the four-lap cross country course in the snow at Tollcross parkrun #248 (the only Glasgow parkrun to survive the weather) in 27:48. Not 100%, but felt much better than I have done for a long time, so hopefully I'll soon be able to remove the "ill" and "injured" flags!

Trail Run 10:00 [1]
(injured) (sick)

Very gentle warm up and down on icy paths into and out of the park.

Friday Jan 19 #

(injured) (sick)

We were going to the "Fight the Night" races at King's Buildings, but a dire police "go home early" warning and an impressive dump of snow as it was getting dark forced a last minute re-think. Sorry to miss the event, especially the first every "indoor orienteering" in Scotland (not strictly true as we did an indoor course for beginners at the SECC a few years ago) in the JCM building.

Thursday Jan 18 #

Terrain Run 42:57 [3]
(injured) (sick)

CLYDE Terrain Run with Dave and Alice round Baljaffrey and Windy Hill Gold Course. Cold and snowy, and unexpectedly painful running through snow with a frozen "crust" on the golf course. All a bit of a struggle, but good to get out on a wintery evening. Knee still not right, and plenty of coughing afterwards, justifying both "injured" and "ill" flags!

Wednesday Jan 17 #

(injured) (sick)

Long day trip to Manchester.

Tuesday Jan 16 #

(injured) (sick)

Relieved when Garscube training was cancelled due to snow and ice.

Monday Jan 15 #

(injured) (sick)

Knee sore and still suffering with cold - finally went to the doctor's!
