Sunday Mar 24 #

Orienteering race 1:00:07 [5] 6.2 km (9:42 / km) +275m 7:56 / km

Hampsfell National Event, M50L (Short Brown, 6.3 km, 275 m) in 60:07 with approximately 2:45 of errors. Slight wobble at 1 (-0.15), poor route to 6 (I started heading towards 7) (-0.45), poor "round the houses" route to 9 when I should have gone straight (-1.30), slightly poor route to 15 (-0.15), lucky to spike 17 despite losing contact well before the control. Ran 11 to 16 with Hazel Dean (who was running at exactly the same speed as me today).

Trail Race race 24:57 [5] 5.0 km (4:59 / km)

Drumchapel parkrun #139 in 24:57. Reasonably brisk run racing against a couple of women all the way.

Road Run 18:58 [1]

Slow jog from home to the parkrun.

Overnight flight back to Glasgow, getting home by mid-afternoon.

Treadmill 45:00 [4]

Reasonably brisk early morning 45 minutes on a Banff treadmill with a modest inclination to make it slightly more interesting. Managed to keep going through a spontaneous nose bleed (!), possibly related to the altitude (Banff is at almost exactly the same height as the top of Ben Nevis).

Skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Two hours on skiing at Mount Norquay near Banff on a gloriously sunny afternoon. Totally overdressed for the conditions.

Tuesday Mar 19 #

7 AM

Indoor Running 47:33 [4] 10.0 km (4:45 / km)

Early morning 100 laps on the 100 m elevated indoor track (basically the balcony of the sports hall) in 23:24 for the first 5 K then (after a short break) 24:09 for the second 5 K.
