Sunday Apr 7 #

Orienteering 1:05:33 [3] 3.8 km (17:15 / km)

Variation on the "semi-permanent 3.8 km Hard Course" at Creag Choinnich above Braemar on a cool and damp morning in 65:33. Misses at several controls, and very slow through the rocky sections. A fitting end to an excellent week.

Saturday Apr 6 #

Trail Race race 23:50 [5] 5.0 km (4:46 / km)

First visit to the new Crathes Castle parkrun #9 in 23:50. Nice course starting with an out-and-back section along a track before winding down through the woods before climbing back up to an uphill finish. Pushing hard all the way on a damp morning.

Terrain Run 5:00 [1]

Gentle warm up and down.

Hill Walk 1:52:00 [2]

From Finzean to and from Tom's Cairn with Rachel and Alice on a damp afternoon with mist obscuring the view from the top.

Friday Apr 5 #

Note

70 minute walk around Finzean Estate as the light began to fade.
12 PM

Cycling 1:51:29 [3]

Steady cycle up from Ballater to Spittal of Glenmuick (68:18), lunch, walk to Loch Muick and back, then faster cycle back down to Ballater (43:11) with Rachel and Alice. Slightly chilly at the top.
3 PM

Cycling 50:15 [3]

Out (25:13) and back (25:02) along the Deeside Way to Cambus o'May. Very pleasant spring sunshine by the end.

Thursday Apr 4 #

Orienteering 1:06:56 [4] 5.0 km (13:23 / km) +170m 11:26 / km

Re-run of Blue Course from SOL 1 on Birsemore on a damp morning in 66:56. Clean up to 7, then dropped down too early at 8 and slow to 11 before a big miss at 12 (which required a big loop round back to 11), then slow to the finish.

Terrain Run 16:04 [1]

Walk/jog to start.

Terrain Run 6:56 [2]

Jog back from finish.

Hill Walk 2:00:00 [2]

Short but steep climb up Mortlich near Aboyne and back in late afternoon sunshine with Rachel and Alice.

Wednesday Apr 3 #

Terrain Run 44:36 [3]
(sick)

Slow and heavy legged plod around some of the forest tracks in the Finzean Estate with Alice in the rain, plus an extra loop at the end. Not comfortable, but a great place to go for a run.

Orienteering 1:05:07 [3]
(sick)

Re-ran the middle section of my British Night Champs course at Muir Of Dinnet in the light: spiked 3 (which I missed at night), needed three goes to find 4 (which I also missed a night, but not as badly), spiked the tricky diagonal uphill leg to 5 (which I missed by 8 minutes at night - turns out I passed within yards of the control in the dark but just didn't spot it), got most of the way to 7 before turning back. Very pleasant outing on a sunny morning, despite heavy legs from the weekend,

Note
(sick)

2 1/4 hour walk round the "Seven Bridges" loop from Ballater in the sunshine. (Alice won't let me log this is training!)

Monday Apr 1 #

Note
(sick)

No run, still feeling a bit rough and pretty tired after yesterday.
