Sunday Aug 4 #

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Much needed rest and recovery day - very tired after a tough week!

Saturday Aug 3 #

9 AM

Road Race race 34:23 [2] 5.0 km (6:53 / km)
(injured)

Very, very slow round Perth parkrun #299 in 34:23 (my slowest ever parkrun!) on a warm morning. Knee not 100%.
12 PM

Walk 25:00 [2]

Walk up to the start.
1 PM

Orienteering race 31:46 [5] 4.0 km (7:57 / km) +100m 7:04 / km
(injured)

Scottish 6 Days 2019, Day 6, Grandtully, M50L (4.0 km, 100 m) in 31:36 (12/91). Fast and mostly downhill course on a vague but well tracked up area. Micro mistake at 11 (I relocated very close to the control) but otherwise clean and as fast as I could manage. Pleased to finish with by far my best position of the week. Moral: Always do a slow parkrun before an orienteering race? Knee not 100%.

Friday Aug 2 #

Orienteering race 1:21:53 [5] 7.4 km (11:04 / km) +330m 9:03 / km
(injured)

Scottish 6 Days 2019, Day 5, Craig a Barns, M50L (7.4 km, 330 m) in 81:53 (28/86). Expected a tough race (one Snickers and two gels!) and got one. The first half was hard work in the thick forest, but the second half was easier in the open terrain. Lost time cutting though the terrain when I should have stayed on the path on the long leg 7-8. Very tired up to the penultimate control, but pleased with my best position of the week so far. Right knee playing up after yesterday.

Walk up to the start.

Thursday Aug 1 #

Orienteering race 1:15:59 [5] 8.8 km (8:38 / km) +325m 7:17 / km

Scottish 6 Days 2019, Day 4 Culteuchar and Dron, M50L (8.8 km, 325 m) in 75:59 (36/85). No real mistakes on a fast, mostly open area. Classic "runner's course", but a nice contrast to the first three days. Long CLYDE helping day.

Walk 30:00 [3]

Walk up to the start.

Tuesday Jul 30 #

Orienteering race 45:05 [5] 3.8 km (11:52 / km) +165m 9:45 / km

Scottish 6 Days 2019, Day 3, Dundurn, M50L (3.8 km, 165 m) in 45:05 (32/96). Tough physical challange with deep grass in places and an early start.

Monday Jul 29 #

Orienteering race 1:12:52 [5] 6.7 km (10:53 / km) +240m 9:13 / km

Scottish 6 Days 2019, Day 2, Edinchip, M50L (6.7 km, 240 m) in 72:42 reduced to 69:48 when leg 13-14 was removed (37/93). Good start but totally ran out of energy climbing 9-10 and then really, really struggled to drag myself back to the finish. Crossed the uncrossable river 13-14 without realising it was uncrossable, disqualified myself, but was then reinstated when the leg was removed for everyone.

Walk 20:00 [2]

Walk to start.
