Orienteering race 1:02:10 [5] 6.4 km (9:43 / km) +220m 8:17 / km

SOL 1, Darnaway Eat, Blue Course (6,4 km, 220 m) in 62:10. Great forest on a summy (but chilly) morning, but tired after last night and lost time to a silly mistake when I set off towards 10 from 6 and had to climb all the way back up the hill to 7 (- 3 minutes?) and a poor route choice exacerbated by a wobble in the circle at 14. First M55, but there wasn't much competition and I should have been several minutes quicker. Great fun all the same!

9 AM

Road Race race 29:45 [2] 5.0 km (5:57 / km)

Slow plod round Victoria parkrun #314 in rain and wind with puddles underfoot in 29:45.
6 PM

Night Orienteering race 50:07 [5] 5.7 km (8:48 / km) +60m 8:21 / km

Scottish Night Championships 2020, Findhorn, Course 3 (5.7 km, 60 m) M55 and SuperVet Winner in 50.07! Findhorn escaped the worst of Storm Dennis and provided a great mix of urban (1-4), forest (5-9) and technical sand dune (10-19) orienteering. Surprised to catch Dave 4 mins at number 5, then managed not to totally blow it in the sand dunes despite misses at 12, 14 and 15 (Rachel beat me on two of these three legs) for the overall win.

Note
(rest day)

Rest day ahead of the weekend to come.

Thursday Feb 13 #

Terrain Run 1:03:11 [3]

Steady CLYDE Terrain Run with Dave on a still and slightly frosty evening in 63:11. Cochno carpark to the golf course to collect night-o markers, visiting the prehistoric cup-and-ring-marked stones and an old water tank with an amazing echo on the way.

Wednesday Feb 12 #

Strength and Conditioning 55:00 [4]

Garscube Strength and Conditioning. A repeat of last week's session, but with 50 (raher than 40) seconds per station and new new (and tougher) "kneeling squats" exercise included.

Tuesday Feb 11 #

Interval Session intervals 1:14:28 [5]

Garscube interval session at the track on a cold and damp evening with a strong headwind on the back straight. Warm up/stretching (13:44), then 14 x 400 m all between 1:41 and 1:45 except the one I led (1:25!) and the last one (1:38). A good session on a cold night.

Monday Feb 10 #

Road Run 39:20 [3]

Slow, heavy-legged plod through the falling snow and slush from Milngavie Station to Mugdock Reservoirs and back.
