Running - Trail race (Hathersage Hurtle) 2:36:18 [5] 31.45 km (4:58 / km) +800m 4:25 / km
ahr:144 max:160 (sick) shoes: Salomon Fellraiser

Relatively uninteresting, probably should've gone with the fell race (a third of the distance though, and I fancied something long). Really good views but surface was definitely 'easy trail'.
Really really hot. Wore my new cap (inov8 sell one exactly the same maroon as the Macc vest, which is nice) and it performed admirably. Also remembered to wear suncream despite arriving 20 mins later than planned due to a cycle race closing roads (surprised to see anyone out, thought the country would be watching the wedding!).

Didn't carry water as I thought the water stations would be sufficient, though this was a good decision although it was pretty marginal.

Got lost near the end - luckily I was carrying the map and was able to mitigate the results of this, didn't go much further than the official route.

Didn't lose any places as a result of the error as the guy behind me went the same way. I apologised afterwards and he said 'I should know better,I did the race last year'. At the finish it turns out the majority of people has gone wrong and they had to send someone out to mark it better :)

Last few km were necessarily a brisk jog - definitely still ill. Pleased to overtake a couple of people up the hill to Stanage Edge and then another one along the top - ie when it became marginally technical (but not really). Guy at the end who I'd passed congratulated me on my technique on the technical bit. He has clearly not been to the lakes.
