Running - Trail race (Parkrun - Stamford Park) 19:17 [5] 5.0 km (3:51 / km) +70m 3:36 / km

2nd. Felt like more climb than it was! Very slightly uphill for a very long way, x2 laps. Pretty much all trail, would be fine for road shoes in summer.
As inner city parks go, not a bad course, and not too much overtaking.

Calf felt the best it has in ages but still a bit dodgy.

Tried to keep the front guy in sight but come the 2nd lap he was well away.

Orienteering - Forest race (Duncombe Park) 56:23 [5] 6.51 km (8:40 / km) +255m 7:15 / km
ahr:148 max:174 shoes: X-talon 212 (blk/flro) - Nov17

Ah yes, now I remember why the white rose has a reputation.

Although - not a lot else on this weekend. Pretty grim forest which was either brashings, bracken or vertical. Good weather though.

Failed to aim off a few times and my distance judgement was all over the place. Low point was 5 minds to run less than 100m, control Dec reading fail possibly, gully UPPER, unfortunately I went to the bottom and it was a vertical slope to get there. Not even convinced it was in the right place, but so little confidence about where I was I don't really have much conviction in that. So steep I couldn't stay on my feet, hurt quite a lot as I slid down, bleeding in a few places.
Few more mistakes caused by not being careful enough.some tracks were marked and some weren't, but the terrain was such that you couldn't just ignore them all - I struggle in those situations.

Hopefully the sprint later will be better! You're allowed to wear shorts which is a good sign.

Orienteering - Forest race (Helmsley Castle Sprint) 13:36 [5] 2.99 km (4:33 / km) +22m 4:23 / km
ahr:134 max:163 shoes: X-talon 212 (blk/flro) - Nov17

This was an excellent sprint which I had near perfect run except from mispunching arrrgh.
I didn't check any of the codes because I was sure I was in the right places and trying to go very fast.
I think I only made one bad route choice going into the castle and lost maybe 15s, rest perfect. Cept the mispunch.

Great fun running around the castle at 1:1,500.

Edit - would've come 3rd in this ahead of Andy Llewelyn, Ben Stevens...basically people who always beat me. Dammit.
