Running - Road/Track race (Parkrun - Glossop) 18:56 [5] 4.7 km (4:01 / km) +43m 3:51 / km
ahr:131 max:149 (injured) (sick) shoes: Nike Pegasus 35

Hot.
Good variety. Nice to see Caitlin Rice there (it's her local); behind her for three quarters of a mile before getting past - pleased with that on a day like today.
Undulating course with some short steep sections of (dry, today) muddy path through the trees, with roots and rocks and things. The rest tarmac with lots of corners - was never going to be fast.
3rd in the end; probably started 10th ish and gradually worked my way through including a sprint finish for 3rd - that was good, since I usually lose them.

Caitlin said she didn't believe that this was really 5k until her and some others from Glossopdale Harriers took a measuring wheel round. It really is.

Insanely hot.
Deliberately started very sedately - so much so that I was queuing for a significant time at stiles. Running with Alannah for the first mile or so - first time I've been with her in a race; she asked me in a worried voice if she'd gone off to fast. I assured her she hadn't.

At the first water station after a steep field where people started collapsing (literally; at least one taken to hospital) Chris and N were already out of sight (and you could see a long way). But I started overtaking from this point and it was then constant for the rest of the race. Would've been a nice one if 10 degrees cooler; good variety of trails, bit of ridge running, few fields, few roads, few trees. Kept running the whole way although micro steps at times.

After the turn around at the top, could see Chris in the distance. This motivated me to start trying a bit harder since I'd assumed he was minutes ahead. Did the downhill pretty well and by the river crossing was only a few seconds behind. Fairly terrifying jump into the river which you don't have any time at all to worry about. Managed to keep my feet and get out without resorting to the rope.

No idea on position, was just glad to finish tbh.

Blowing nose a lot and can't really breathe through it :(
