Note
(injured) (sick)

My last cold lasted for 17 days, but they're usually gone in 2 weeks. So the Saunders might be grim, but at least should be better for Wasdale :)
8 AM

Running - Trail race (Round Sheffield Run) 2:37:21 intensity: (1:17:25 @1) + (1:19:56 @5) 24.02 km (6:33 / km) +590m 5:50 / km
(injured) (sick) shoes: Nike Pegasus 35

Entered on a whim, can't remember who mentioned it but they said it was good. Was sold out so I put my name on the waiting list and got a place - bit like Guernsey really - except that one was a good call!

Didn't enjoy this. Multiple reasons really - having the cold certainly didn't help but mainly it was like a long interval session where the recoveries were so long you seized up even though you were walking between. There was only marginally less walking time than running time. Also despite starting in the front 'elite' wave it felt really busy the whole time (2066 runners). Also it was hot, although admittedly it was normal hot rather than mental hot. Also the route looks good on a map, but in reality it's mainly on undulating rough paths through trees (nice, but no view), through City parks (meh) and on roads (boo). Some of the legs near the beginning had some fun downhill sections, but definitely reminded me one of the reasons I like proper fell running so much is feeling like you're totally on your own, like you can in the lakes. This bet much wasn't that. So won't be doing it again.

Unless find a speedy girl to be a mixed pair with as that category is pretty wide open!

54th - about 11 mins down. Which is much better than I thought it would be!

Running back along the course amid multiple cries of 'you're going the wrong way' which petered out into half the people being impressed that someone could run more than 25k in one go, and the other half being angry about it for some reason I couldn't understand - I think they construed it as 'showing off'.
Then once I'd met mum after 6k or so, then just includes the slow segment running times running completing the course with her. Actually she's pretty good on the downhills as long as they're not too steep or technical. Like me, basically. Was getting a bit worried when she nearly fainted near the end; glad I was there tbh.

Feeling pretty trashed. The cold is worsening.
