Orienteering - Forest race (Longshaw) 1:07:04 [5] 10.01 km (6:42 / km) +341m 5:43 / km
ahr:140 max:163 shoes: Mudclaw G260

Significant rain forecast for the whole country, accurately. Wasn't looking forward to another o in the rain after last time but it was that or a hilly road race in the rain, or an xc in the rain, and I knew Longshaw was a good area.

Enjoyed it much more than expected despite the 3 layers I wore; bit warm at times but mostly good. About 5 degrees but wetness made it feel colder.

Confused at the start by new ISOM using green dashes rather than black dots for veg boundary, so I was seeing them as blue dashes; a ditch. Unfortunately there was a ditch very close by! So lost a bit of time there, but not much.
No trouble with 2-8 just went slowly and accurately. 9 got confused by extra ditch not on map (confirmed with planner afterwards) and lost a couple of mins. Very lucky on 16 since no AP, but saved by excellent bearing.

Miles off the pace (20 mins down? But that is down on the England guys) but navigating well and enjoyed it; very wet underfoot with lots of extra streams but terrain otherwise pretty runnable. Restored some of my faith in non-urban o.

Note
(rest day)

Raining. Calculated my average weekly mileage and it's 49.5; thought I'd managed to get it up to 50 dammit. Still time by the end of the year!

Note

I shouldn't have rest days as I just go online and buy running stuff

Running - Road/Track (MaccH B Group) 1:21:07 [3] 15.56 km (5:13 / km) +216m 4:52 / km
ahr:142 max:161 shoes: Nike Pegasus 35

Standard sort of pace, quite a long way. Feeling lethargic at the start but picked up toward the end. Good chat about races next year. Good weather.

Running - Trail (MaccH Fell Training) 1:37:27 [2] 13.59 km (7:10 / km) +348m 6:21 / km
ahr:139 max:168 shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 305

Slow and very muddy with the fell group. Definitely nice to do the long run in the daylight and have this as recovery!

Running - Trail long (Shining Tor alternative) 1:53:49 [3] 17.68 km (6:26 / km) +686m 5:24 / km
ahr:137 max:162 shoes: Xtalon 212 (blk/red)

Anticlockwise this week; much nicer this way as death-by-cobbles path was significantly easier going uphill.
Lovely views and nice day - pleasant to be out in the daylight. Will try and wfh once a week and continue with a long midweek run.

Couple more variations on a theme to try.

Running - Road/Track (MaccH B Group) 1:15:58 [3] 13.7 km (5:33 / km) +193m 5:11 / km
ahr:137 max:165 shoes: Pegasus 36 (Blue)

Fairly sedate B Group today; put in one hard mile effort up a gentle hill but otherwise more of a social jog. Feeling ok.

Running - Trail race (Wirksworth Undulator) 1:05:37 [5] 13.55 km (4:51 / km) +479m 4:07 / km
ahr:148 max:168 shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 290 (blue)

1 min 7 slower than last year, despite everything being in my favour :'(
- trails rather than fell shoes; right choice
- vest and shorts rather than ls and 3/4s; right choice
- cooler day
- less effort yesterday since quicker rather than slower of the pair
- less travel etc yesterday since Peaks rather than Lakes

4 segment PRs / 10, it looks like I set off faster this year (and I did give it 100%) but then couldn't maintain it later on. It felt like it was going to be faster so really annoying to be so much worse. Hopefully just a bad day rather than an underlying trend.

Definitely more road in the middle than I remember there being, but otherwise a nice undulating trail race with some nice descents and good views.
