warm up

Orienteering 19:25 [4] *** 3.0 km (6:28 / km) +125m 5:21 / km
22c shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 20

Sprint simulation at Pispala
Good to do, especially as its really relevant, being right next to the jwoc sprint area.
Was super motivated after watching the woc sprint which definitely helped me up the massive hill in the middle.
Need to think more though, found that I was running faster than I could think and that I kept overrunning things, and also missing small passages as it was hard to distinguish between what was out of bounds and what wasn’t. Ran through an uncrossable fence because the line didn’t look thick.
Absolutely died on the big hill, but also in general I was struggling to breathe and my legs were quite heavy and sluggish. Need a bit of speed to kick more. Next time will definitely be better.
Good to do a hard session though, even if I didn’t feel great, and the view was so nice at the top of the hill!

Running warm up/down 18:36 [3] 2.4 km (7:45 / km)

Lap of the track on the way home.
Legs were dead and had no lift and struggled to breathe again.

Orienteering 58:52 [3] *** 4.6 km (12:48 / km) +31m 12:23 / km
13c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Middle simulation at Kortejärvi
This was good I think, goal was to navigate well and then work on only running when I was confident in where I was and could keep contact. This really helped and I was more focused and concentrating better on the right things.
Brain died at #13 (45 mins in) and so things weren't as great after that.
Another really nice area though, this was just so much fun and would've liked to stay out longer.

Orienteering 39:55 [3] *** 3.7 km (10:47 / km) +16m 10:34 / km
9c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Middle training at Pulesjärvi.
This map was just soo nice! Really nice running and quality map which was just so nice especially after yesterday. Was still pretty stop-start-y still but found that I was more confident and running better. Felt like I could understand the terrain better and was interpreting the map better.

Orienteering 59:24 [3] 4.3 km (13:49 / km) +84m 12:35 / km
10c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Middle training at Aitovuori.
This was more of an adventure than the morning.
After the first 5 or so controls, the orienteering part got okay, but maybe that was because I was taking super safe routes and making the most of the tracks. The first part though was not great. Just super confused as the map was out of date and there were some flags/tapes but not necessarily at the same control sites as were on the map. I don’t think any of us actually found #5, but looking at the route gadget I was way too high up on the slope, though I’m fairly sure the map was not great in this area either.

Running warm up/down 5:29 [3] 0.7 km (7:50 / km) +7m 7:28 / km

Orienteering 1:58:00 [3] 8.4 km (14:03 / km) +87m 13:21 / km
11c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Long distance simulation at Teisko.
This was good, I found it really beneficial and a lot better in the forest than last time. Ran to the first control with the other girls then went the opposite way around from them so that I wouldn't be influenced by their routes etc. Went mostly pretty well, made myself plan properly before leaving the control and then stick to it. Second guessed myself a bit but I was aware that the scale was probably tripping me up and I was going very stop-start-y so was slower than I'm used to which also made me think I had gone so much further.
Started to lose concentration around 1:15 and I found myself going to a completely different control than originally planned (#32 instead of #71).Then decided to go #46, #45, #43 on my way to my last 2 controls but then didn't commit fully and ended up in the general area of them but didn't actually visit the flags. Was fine until after the cliffs at the bottom of #42, which was when it started raining and I properly switched off completely and was just following a vague compass bearing to get to the track which I would then take back. But then I was off and didn't make myself correct it properly so ended up eventually at a different part of the track which I was super confused by for a bit.
Good session though, was going well I think until my brain stopped working. Need to work on keeping closer contact all the time though. And my leg was fine until I was running on the track at the end so I think that rolling on it this morning definitely did some good.
So nice in the forest here too, could never get sick of it here!

Running warm up/down 17:09 [3] 3.1 km (5:32 / km) +22m 5:21 / km
slept:8.5 shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Ended up on one of the tracks so just followed it back to where we were meeting.
