Note

About 45 minutes s with D strolling on the beach (South Padre Island), picking up shells for Elana’s fish tank. Other than the quads, legs feel pretty ok.
Still shocked by the last 10 miles of yesterday’s race, can’t beloved how sore the quads got all of a sudden. I really don’t feel like I went out too fast, pace was comfortable. Played with a faster mile (mile 2) and decided that was too fast wth the weather and backed off. Possibly a result of dehydration?

Running (Warm up ) 7:48 [3] 0.85 mi (9:11 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT2000-6 Indigo blue

Warm up with 3 strides.

Running (McAllen, TX Marathon. ) 3:24:37 [3] 26.38 mi (7:45 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT2000-6 Indigo blue

Not very happy with my time, but the $750 cash prize for the win takes away the sting a bit! Quads started to blow up about mile 15, not sure why? I really thought I was gonna be good for about a 3:15 without too much trouble.
Not enough road long runs? Too fast of a start in warmer temps? Not sure? However, the first place male was about 15 minutes slower than he was hoping for too.
67 degrees, 90% humidity and 15mph winds at the start. Humidity decreased towards the end, but finishing temperature was 77 with a 24mph wind. Lots of turns on the course, so that helped as far as the wind was concerned.

Note

Slow 2 mile walk, out and back at a nature preserve to view the Rio Grande River. I was ready to be done walking, lol.

(rest day)

Traveling. Long day, left home at 4:30am and got to the hotel at 9:45pm. Did get a good carb loading meal at a Mom and Pop Italian place on our drive down from Houston.
Program called for 2 rest days in a row, so I’m rolling with it. Short run tomorrow.

2 mile warm up, then 4x400 (94-92-90-88) w/ 400 easy between. Good! Just a couple super short runs left and race day....26.2 miles seems like a long ways, lol. Race day is looking like it will be a warmer start, so far predictions are 62 for that morning. I'd be ok if that temp dropped about 10-15 degrees.
