Note
Saw Dr. Lillegard.
Hip: He determined I have Iliac Crest Enthesopathy - basically an inflammed tendon on the outside rim of the hip bone. I was given a hip stretch to do and I need to give it quick bounces 50-100 times at least 2 times a day. More reps and more times a day is good too. Typically you don't bounce in a stretch, but he said this is a tendon I am stretching so the bouncing is good. He had me do something similiar with another tendon issue years ago and it really worked. I am to do this before a run too. He said this is something I can run through. It might be a little sore running and it may be sore after, but to judge how progress is going by how I feel the next day.
Shin: My shin will feel good for a while after I get it worked on by Adam or Malcolm, then seems to regress backwards after a number of days. I was hoping to get into Adam this week about the hip thing too, but he was booked and on vacation. I see him next Tuesday to get his take on it. Dr. took an xray of the hip and shin, he didn't see any bone issue. However, with a stress fracture or a stress reaction, those may not show up in an xray. He put me on 6 days of prednisone (poor man's bone scan) to see how things clear up with both the hip and shin. We shall see how things feel next week.
Once again.....screwed up chances for a PR at Grandma's :/ Oh well, suck it up and adjust goals once healthy again.
Looking back, there were signs with both of these issues. I need to just learn to listen to my body and quit trying to run through this stuff.
