Event: Icebox 480

8 AM

Running (Icebox 480) 7:52:41 [3] 46.0 mi (10:17 / mi)
shoes: Altra Lone Peak 3.0 - Blue

11/183 overall and 3rd female.
Completed 6 - 7 mile loops and 4 - 1 mile loops. Switchback mountain bike trails. Rolling hills and some technical, but not too bad. However, leaves on the ground don’t help. One ankle roll and one good fall....Superman slide onto the ground, haha....no witnesses :).
I wasn’t sure how my calf would feel today, was planning on dropping If bad. It was pretty tight the first loop, but then started to loosen and that part of my body felt better and better the more I ran (sore now though, but not too horrible). Hips tight the middle of the race and left heel/Achilles tight the last 1/3 of the race.
Sore and tired, but that’s to be expected. Very happy with today’s run! :)
I was ok that there wasn’t time for one more mile ;) I don’t think I could have run a 7:20, haha!

(rest day)

A week of healing.
Ankle/outer calf irritated since I rolled my ankle in Wild Duluth. I saw Adam yesterday, glad I decided to do that. He found a lot of tight areas in the ankle and relieved a lot of it! A little run tomorrow and that will be it until Saturday, fingers crossed for a problem free race :)

Race was completely different than what I was thinking....I haven’t done this one in a while. I was envisioning a steeper, rockier start.
