O race (Urban) 59:58 [4]

I make quite the advert for orienteering at the moment. Running around with a map and coughing like I have a 40 a day habit. Actually, not quite so bad today as I didn't have to stop with a coughing fit, but still coughed most of the way round.

A pretty solid run. No mistakes. Only missed the best routes a few times and then not by much. Running course 1, so had to pace myself. Could have been much better if I'd been pinging. <... wistfully looking into the distance ...> will I be pinging again soon? Stupid cough.

O race (Urban) 51:51 [4]

My cough is probably a bit worse. Had to stop a few times with a coughing fit. 3 weeks seems like too long to have a cough for.

Legs didn't feel great.

Made an epic misread of the map at the start. The line to #1 ran through #8, so I ran to #8 for the first control, the 7 on the map looked a bit like a 2 and the line went from #8, so I was half way there before I realised my mistake. I was lucky that the route I chose was kind of on the way to #1, so things weren't as disastrous as they could have been. Still lost about 90 secs.

Lost about 30sec to #2 as the control was in some deep undergrowth and I was hoping I wouldn't have to go in with bare legs.

Other than that, no real mistakes. Just didn't feel very fast. Result actually ended up being ok. With one of my best ranking scores. Surprised.
