O race (Forest) 57:50 [3]

Had a bit of a cold for the last couple of days, but it wasn't too bad overnight, so decided to do this. It was a long ride on the bike and with not feeling great, decided to do the Blue. Pace was steady, but didn't feel super fast.

Got distracted by unmarked paths a few times. They are always going to be there on this kind of terrain. Need to focus better. When I'm sure of my map contact, don't panic when I see a path I wasn't expecting.

Didn't even notice #4 was in the wrong place! It was close enough that I saw it when I looked around and so just punched it and moved on.

Missed my attack point of the path bend to #8 and went too far east.

Stopped short with an unmarked path to #15. Careless. Wasn't pace counting.

Kept getting on the wrong path to #17. Should check with Mr Compass more.

Event: MV Street O

O race (Street-O) 59:06 [4] 9.76 km (6:03 / km)

Left work late, so had to push hard on the bike to make it on time. Made it with 2mins to spare. Really felt that effort once I started running. Struggled to push hard. Average pace was ok though.

Navigation a bit wobbly at the start, but then I got my head round the map.

O race (Street-O) 1:00:29 [4] 10.09 km (6:00 / km)

First Street-O of the season. Felt like I was running ok and navigation was good. Writing down the answers was a bit of a mess though! Kept forgetting which control number I was at and having to flip the map and answers over and over.

Lost about 2 mins picking a route that would have taken me through a cemetery, but the gates were locked. I should have realised it was a risky route and there was an equally good route on a path I was already on and so I knew was open. Still a good result overall though.
