Low 50s and light wind. Did not check my watch until 4 miles, thought I was running 8:15-20 pace, but was at 7:49. Tried to maintain the effort which I did until 13, then I had to work the last three miles to maintain pace. 5 Mile splits: 38:54 (7:47s), 38:21 (7:40s), 37:58 ( 7:36s) then finished in 7:37. Last 1/2 marathon was 1:40:17 - 2 minutes faster than I ran at GB 1/2 last year and carried the pace for another 3 miles.

Probably should not be running this hard, but this is the type of running I enjoy.

Fantastic 58 degrees and sunny. Great day for a run, but had to take it easy today. Tired and sore. Over 700 miles for the year.

Fitger's 5K, first race of the year. Knew the last mile would be tough, so ran a solid 2 mile:(6:46 - 6:52) 13:38, then hung on. Lake Ave hill, as short as it is, did me in; 7:20 last mile. At least averaged sub-7s: 6:59. Very happy with the results. Won my age-group. 215 miles last 4 weeks. Solid mileage for me.

Pushing 60 degrees. Ran on the Lakewalk. Thought I was running slow. 8's were very easy. Wanted a rest run before the race tomorrow. Will see what happens.

On the track at UMD. My Birthday (72) Run goal was to run 7.2 miles @ 7:20 pace. Of course went out too fast - 56 degrees and sunny, and first time on a track this year - was to be expected. After a 6:54 first 1600 meters tried to settle into a reasonable pace. Went through 5K @ 22:13, 8K @ 35:47, 10K @ 44:39 (22:13-22:26), then somehow dug down and finished with a 7:06 last 1600. The 8K and 10K were faster than I ran all last year. Thrilled with my run, but will be sore and tired for Fitgers on Saturday. Jess was kind enough to run some laps with me and provide some splits; really helped.
