Note

So I really have to get around to logging. Lara has been staunchly pressing on with AP despite interminable waits and frequent crashes, but clearly things have returned to a normal level of idiosyncrasy, so I’m pretty-well excuse-less. Since my foggy emergence from hospital in mid-October, my watch has accumulated some ludicrous number of splits summing almost 30 hours of running, of which I'm only confident most will certainly be unaccountable. Still, I'm now always grateful to the powers-that-be for a slightly looser grip on the internet hand break. I hardly recognised my Gmail the other day when it loaded without deferring to html format. I actually considered writing a letter.

Forest behind uni with La. Ran into some local Bai ladies gathering pinenuts in the forest. Couldn't resist asking the obvious ("what are you doing?"), which seems to be the key to friendly conversation here. Ran the rest of the way 'munching' my way through a fistful of pinenuts -- delicious, but I would rank the teeth gnashing required of the seed coat on par with popping Saranac tops with your cuspids.

Funny little ride out to check out a few spurs south of uni., which judging from the aerials, I thought had some potential -- a gravel access road and a fairly gentle piney ridge -- and seemed like it was worth checking out. But in a way, I was glad to see it didn't turn out to be that great, because it was bit messy to get there and not the most scenic (In fact, I don't think Lara could see anything for some of it, given the height of the vegetation). Still, we managed to find a few wee fun sections of single track to keep us busy -- one which landed us at a funny little temple on the side of the hill. Cruisy ride back along the main road.

running 30:00 [3]

Run around uni. Only slightly embarassing that we were wearing matching O pants to pick up milk at the dairy.

Thanksgiving. The Chinese word for turkey translates to "fire chicken." I like it partly because the simple imagery makes it easy for me to remember, and I also like it because I kind like the idea of slipping in "breathing" next opportunity.

Blasted up the hill, over the wall and straight up to the cobbled track -- back down through uni. All in less than a pumpkin pie.
