running terrain warm up/down 10:00 [2]

orienteering race 1:43:09 [4] *** 10.01 km (10:18 / km) +545m 8:06 / km

Waioneke
arrrgh. crap race. I took it pretty cautiously through no.5; I had a bad route to 6 but still managed to cross Chris' path. We botched 6 a bit, and 7, and 9, and I botched 11, where he pulled ahead. I then continued the botchings through, 13 (1.5min) 14 (4.5 min there), before settling down so much I felt like I was walking to stay on track. Never really recovered. decidedly poor performance.

orienteering race 31:28 [4] *** 3.9 km (8:04 / km) +50m 7:35 / km

I went out easy trying to get the feel of the map -- I was nervous about forested dunes after botches at Rabbbit Island. I made the error of taking the sand from 3 to 4. I also made the mistake of letting a Dane pull me off en route to 11 which cost me almost 4min. After that I settled into the cuttings side, and was even looking forward to it in the arvo.

better than morning. I was taking it cautiously to 3, but then started picking it up. It wasn't enough to catch the leaders, but I think I closed the gap on many of them. Had only minor troubles in the cuttings (ie not seeing the control straight away) It was a wasps nest at times in there!!

running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

orienteering race 32:54 [4] *** 3.87 km (8:30 / km) +200m 6:45 / km

I completely blew 6, otherwise ok. I felt like I was getting faster as I got comfortable with the map. After 6, I started to get my rhythm...or maybe it was the PAPO length legs?

running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

feet hurt.

orienteering race 14:59 [5] 2.69 km (5:34 / km)

Satellite Albany

Totally blew the spectator control -- and even left it in a 180. nice one. felt spent on the back stretch from 16 to 17. Hamstrings felt really spent, and achilles were really tight -- feet still very sore.
